OS GIKEN STR2C
Over the past few weeks, I have been given the oppurtunity to test a twin plate clutch from OS GIKEN, the STR2C. First impressions with it are awesome. It is a full face twin plate clutch rated for 570ft-lbs. The first thing that really stood out was the feel, the clutch pedal is heavier then oem but not heavy or tiring to drive even in stop and go traffic. I also immediately noticed the I can feel where the clutch engages. This just adds to the feel you get from the rest of the car. Engagement is not aggressive, it grabs but is very easy to control and not stall out. I recently did a SCCA MATCH TOUR, and the following weekend a SCCA PROSOLO. I found it easy to either roll off the line and be nice to the clutch, or at the PRO SOLO, with it drag tree starts was nothing for it. I have even tried to abuse it with a clutch and throttle heavy launch, again no big deal. Installion, which I did by myself, was a breeze the plates came in order and numbered. During installation the word QUALITY came smashing to the front of my mind. The cover also came numbered for so torquing it was nearly a thoughtless process. The numbering of everything shows they look at it carefully and care highly about quality control. I have a jackson racing supercharger, and got a clutch that was easy to drive with FI, and leaves room has headroom for future fun with even more power.

I love it - please keep us posted as you gain more experience with it. What was the cost and can you confirm that it's free of chatter, which is common on a twin-plate clutch?

I just drove on this clutch from san diego to rochester ny towing a tire trailer and car full of my stuff. No problems. One thing I did forget to mention this clutch requires a special throwout bearing. Frsport had those. The throwout bearing has a nicer install than the OEM one.

Keep a lookout for that stock FR-S fork, a bunch of us Twin plate clutch users have had ours fail on us. Even Velox had theirs fail on just a aftermarket single disc, but its good to see other forum members using OS clutches! I wish I would have gone with this model instead of the OS Giken TR2C that i'm currently using. Have you had any issues with the clutch engagement point moving to the absolute bottom of the pedal? Or any issues with the car stalling when you disengage the clutch before a stop?

yeah that one is one piece, the bearing needs to be pressed onto the slide. Just costs $5 to have them prepress it on before shipping it out.
