I recently found out my home is in an area that Comcast (XFinity) can provide 2gig (up and down) speeds for home use! I am very tempted but the $300 a month charge is a bit much, although I suppose I could open my own data center.

So, aside from the weight and size, couldn't same be said of the 240z? Or of any older car?

Yep. I am not trying to discourage here just giving the facts. You mentioned weight and I responded. There are many factors about modding older cars that need to be considered and it isn't just drop an engine in in your driveway and off you go. Most of those old cars (even the sports cars) drove like shit compared to modern ones. You can update loads but that means they will now drive slightly less like shit. As long as you understand that going into it all is good. If you go in with the wrong expectations you will be disappointed.

That's basically what this is (its fiber, not cable). The pricing is actually better than what I've seen for Verizon's FiOS service (Verizon's listed price for 500/500Mbps service is $270 a month vs $300 a month for 2000/2000Mbps service from Xfinity.

I'll most likely stick with what I have for now from UVerse. The only real issue I have is upload speed and that is only when I'm doing cloud backups to Amazon.

What could you possibly need 2gb upload for?

What @Tectoniic said, plus I need to back up my huge collection of Cosplay Girls....

Do I need it, no about 80% of the time, would it be great when I do, yes.

I do some video editing work on occasion (most family/friends) and also work from home quite a bit with large datasets/Excel files/etc that are stored on a corporate network which require bidirectional access. We also back all our home computers to Amazon. At last count I have 6 computer/laptops, one file server with about 3TB of data on it (mostly archived edited video footage and photos), and another 20 or so web-enabled devices in my house. Backing these up to the cloud in the background can take hours (and occasionally days) with the current upload speed.

Upload speed is the gold. DL speed is practically free nowadays.

Indeed. I need that symmetric DL/UL. I remote desktop (a lot) to and from my home computer, so it's nice to have a nice and quick UL speed.
