I got the STI lowering springs for $700 AU fitted and the STI axle back for $1150 AU fitted. The lowering springs were part of an email campaign from Subaru (I admit this one was a fluke). I kept searching for the STI axle back on eBay and one day saw one advertised for $1300 and realised the seller was a local Subaru dealer. I phoned the dealer directly and got it fitted for $1150, it was clearance stock.

The springs were normally $1100 fitted and the axle back around $2500 fitted, so pretty happy and a bit lucky I guess and yes those prices are too much.
Thats just nuts! 2500$ for an axleback is

Real world counterpoint, a K20/K24 will see huge gains from an 3" exhaust versus a 2.5" exhaust. Obviously not a perfect example as the K20/K24 head flows a lot more.

Bottom line, It's all acoustics. Have to tune the whole instrument to make it sing. Once it's there, it's there. Season to taste. FA20 heads are the bottleneck. Tuning intake runners and exhaust headers will move the resonant points around but there's no genie waiting in the bottle.

Yeah I was never going to pay that price, but I must admit it is very well made. Very happy with what I got it for.

I have changed different things on my car. The STI performance muffler was one of the best changes and worth all the money. Car makes now the sound it deserves, tune had to be greatly revised (although I have to admit that the rest of the parts contributed as well and the axleback was the cherry on the cake), rear looks is now gorgeous.

Nothing wrong going to something cheaper too. STI sports/performance mufflers are also manufactured by Fujitsubo. They have a strong relationship with STI and they are supplying the exhaust of the Nurburgring 24h car. These guys know what they are doing.

I must admit it does look pretty good, if I didn’t get the good deal on the STI exhaust, I probably would’ve got one myself.

Imagine the titanium STI axle back, that would be a cherry and whipped cream on top

Given we're talking semi science here I am going pedant mode. I apologise but I can't help it.

How long did it take to get your in?
I'll be ordering mine as soon as Black Friday sales take effect.

Good to know!

I may have a 2.5" midpipe fitted later by FT86MS( link ) to spread out damage to the wallet.
On the subject of exhaust flow, it might add a couple HP. I am more interested in tuning sound as needed.

I am just going to use a stock mid pipe. I am going to be catless with full exhaust from JDL before mid pipe so there should be zero flow issues
