I had the TSB for the windows done on my 14 as soon as it was released and never had a problem. Would I deliberately go looking for an early 13 now? No of course not (unless it was much cheaper than a 14 up) but the whole idea that they were all plagued with issues is just silly.

If I buy one, I'll wait.
1) I want the aftermarket to develop. I don't want to be the one funding the tuning development and I don't want to buy things twice as better options become available. 2) I do want to see what weak spots pop up. How high are people revving them? Do the transmissions and axles hold up? Etc, etc, etc. |

~20% more torque and Toyota making their version into a drift toy (IMO). I think definitely the mid corner loss of traction that is being reported is going to catch people out. Its what is catching out the Japanese vids. The touchy throttle probably doesn't help either. |

There are fans of this car on these forums that have gobbled up every tiny bit of info on these cars from day one and yet never ever yet purchased this or any car over that time. Every bit of info has them teetering on a decision, but then they can be seen on other threads thinking the same way about the 400Z or MX-5. These are the same people who were holding out on the first model year problems first time around in some cases too. I wouldn't listen to people who are so enthralled by the details and purchasing differences from year to year yet never purchase. Not sure if that is "fake demand" or just the result of not enough $ floating around for a longtime fan to get one of these beauties, unfortunately.
I had a chat with a young lad who was driving one of these cars with an SBD turbo, Mishimoto oil cooler, some cheap coilovers, exhaust and aftermarket rocker panels and front and rear diffusers, CF ducktail. Paid $18K as is for the car from a used dealer and had to replace the rear bumper which previous track racer put big Honda holes in. This guy will get years of enjoyment with minimal work. Someone who wants less of a gamble can get a fair price on a stock gen 1 car and within a modest budget. And theyre cheap to maintain for the most part. So, there is a twin for a wide range of budgets for those that sincerely are willing to purchase. And if you live in a major city, you can get replacement OEM struts/coils and exhausts very cheap through social media since almose every modded car leaves unwanted OEM parts sitting around. Anyone holding out on the first year this time around can read my lips: CARPE DIEM.

Buy first year, don’t buy, stick with gen1, sell gen1 to get gen2, does it really matter. I mean these are personal decisions and have no effect on our lives. So a gen2 may beat me at a light, big deal most Minivans will as well.
I love my 16AT for the DD that it is and have no plans on changing. If the Gen2 is the greatest thing since sliced bread after I test drive one, I will reconsider. If I was in the market for a new car I would have no problem getting the Gen2. Looking forward to seeing them around. |

Yes, but there are plenty of 16-24 year olds that will be wrapping them around trees and poles on the street. Just like when the FR-S came out. |
