People don't think of it as a Canadian issue but it is as bad or possibly worse than many US cities of the same size. Many freeze to death through the winter so we actual have a higher fatality rate. The biggest issue is that although they need help they actively resist it so there is little that can be done.

Lived in Seattle for 4 years, 3.5 with my BRZ. First CapHill then Ravenna. Multiple weekends spent just driving around the PNW and attending driving events. Gave up on commuting by car after about a year.
There are some substantial hills especially downtown, but you get used to it pretty quick. The stock tires like to surprise you in the wet; I'd opt for some all-seasons for the winter. I don't recommend commuting by car. Our cars are so much fun, but nobody likes sitting in traffic. Save driving for the weekends and you'll like your car more. Most neighborhoods are okay. Gentrification is a problem, and so are homelessness and drug addiction. Don't leave anything in or around your car. I had a car cover stolen but fortunately no break-ins. The Porsche clubs run some real nice events across the Sound, and The Ridge is a lot of fun if you want to get into track driving. North Cascades Hwy is my favorite road on the planet. |

I appreciate the input everyone! I ended up grabbing a studio in Queen Anne with an assigned garage spot. Luckily I keep pretty much NOTHING in my car, so hopefully no motivation for anyone to mess with it. I did grab some all season tires as well. I don't intend on using the car to commute, though, as I'm about an 8 minute bike ride / 25 minute walk from where I'll be working.
Heading up in a couple of weeks and I can't wait! |

Oh, nice! I was going to suggest making this a travelogue thread but...
A couple weeks yet but still, safe travels! You will be amazed at the number of twins out here. None of them will be on the forum. :/

FWIW, if you're dropping that sort of money, I liked Wataru and Kashiba better.
Edit: If you go up to the Northgate area, Sushi Tengu is a really good conveyor-belt style place. It's not fancy or flashy or even that big, but their fish is way better than it has any right to be. |
