Dealer installed mine, and I need to check now and see if they avoided drilling the holes for the additional fasteners. If they did I'm going to make sure they fix it, or DIY if they get grumbly about their own half-assing now that I see this guide. Thanks for doing this.

The factory installation instructions tell you to drill the holes in the fender liners. So, I can't imagine they would have skipped it...but yea, dealer install so you never know.

FYI...for anyone with a 2017 Toyota, you need specific model year as the previous 2013+ do not fit it correctly. I saw that others were installing them on the 2017 BRZ so I ordered them but they don't fit the toyota, at least the rear don't, slightly different curvature on the rear fender and would leave a gap if installed.

Indeed, some time ago i saw FT86SF added MY2017 mud guards to inventory, so there must be some difference.

Hey, I might have messed up. I was excited my mudguards came in that I didn't wash the car before I installed the mud guards and I may have scratched the paint when I slid the metal spring clips on the front. I didn't take them off yet to inspect if I did any damage but I think there was some grit/dirt on the mounting tabs and when I slid it on it didn't sound too good. Is there any chance of rust and is there any way of remedying this issue... I feel like a dumb ass for not being careful, but the excitement of new "mods" got the best of me. I really wouldn't want my fenders to rust so I was thinking of coloring it with black sharpie and covering it with some paint protection film to prevent rust, but I'm not sure its a good idea to do that cause the film might peel up sometime and cause water to be trapped there and cause more damage. Any suggestions? is this even a real problem or am I just being paranoid?

Buy a $10 bottle of touch-up paint in your color, and use it to cover any spots where you may have ground the paint off when you were installing. If there's exposed metal, apply paint.
