A few years back my parked car got bumped into by a subcontractor at work. Got it all on dashcam. Sent the clip to the police and my insurance. As far as I know, my insurance did what it would've done regardless of if I had the clip (reimbursed the repair). I reported it at the time to work's (large tech company in California) office facility people and company security and also submitted a police report with the clip. As far as I know the cops never did anything, and for the several months I was still working there the same guy was never fired from the subcontractor, subcontractor never seemed to get in trouble, and the amount of dents on his truck continued to pile up. And he never acknowledged me when I walked or drove by him.

So the dashcam was basically meaningless the one time it would've been useful for some kind of repercussions.

Anyway that's my rant about it.
Is California a no-fault state?

Nah. I pay for comprehensive though, and as far as I understand that it means they should cover me in most if not all cases.

The clip is stating that most dash cams use a crap sensor. The only half decent sensor to use is one made by Sony.

Dash cam is to demonstrate who is at fault, even if that's only demonstrating you're not at fault but your insurance still has to pay. Red light runners, liars, etc. Years ago I was smashed into the car in front of me by van... Hidden light (behind a hill and a very long line of stopped cars) and raining, I got a ticket. There were three more cars pulled over ahead of us, but I was the only one that noticed. I was branded a liar and all sorts of crap pulled by the cop. I've been hit in a parking lot while stationary and blamed by the other driver who claimed I was moving and caused the incident... Fortunately I had a dead battery so, while in the car... Definitely not moving, so the cops helped me there. Next one a kid pulled out in front of me when I was turning left and no stop, he had a stop. Every incident has had contested fault. The way city drivers are you can bet it's never simple.

Ah well, I just did what everyone else on the internet does and formed an opinion without watching 🤣

I'll start.

Ring is releasing a Dash Cam,starts at $199 until 1/31/23. Then goes up $50. I was trying to find out if it does a live recording while driving and detecting accidents but it seems like you can only manually record your trip up to 20 mins.

GPS location (Remote), Two Way Talk (Remote), and other features come with a $6 a month subscription.

If it's anything like the Ring my sister them have for the house HARD PASS.

A Computer?

I do have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of our ring camera at home. Had to mess with it extensively in order to not get notifications because of a random squirrel moving around my front door.

I've had good luck with my Ring pro 2. There is a simple setting you can click so it will only notify you when movement is recognized as people. I don't use it since I want to know if there is a car coming into the driveway, or a badger in my front yard. I do have cats, squirrels, bunnies, and birds set it off. I figure if it's that sensitive, that's a good thing. It's doing its job. It only takes a second to look at the alert on my phone, see the squirrel, and delete the alert.

Or a Switch at that point. Last couple games I got for mine I played entirely in portable mode. It's not the most comfortable, but it's pretty ergonomic size-wise.

That happened to us for a few months actually, I would reset the internet and nothing. One day, it suddenly worked again and it has been for a while.
