Guess all those posting from Canada are getting ready to turn them in? (If the current administration continues, we won't be far behind down here)..

last i heard, all semi-automatic guns were getting banned because semi-automatic is another term for assault rifles, along with incendiary 'heat seeking' rounds.

i'm really starting to suspect they say this stuff after buying gun stock just to drive their stock prices up...

My understanding is they have amended the law, and it now covers just about anything with a magazine, including bolt action .22s..

Oh it's a real kick in the nuts this bill. There are even ww1 era bolt action mausers on the list to be banned. "Weapons of war" arguments and such. I know we aren't supposed to get political here, but this is the first time in my life I've ever been compelled to send out physical letters to all our MP's. It's luckily getting a fair bit of public backlash, but I'm sure even if they drop the latest amendment the handgun ban will go through.

The current government have been excellent salespeople for guns with all of these shenanigans. Record amounts of legal guns have been purchased this year with the looming bans...

I've gone from 0 to 3 guns in just a few months. Completely hooked on this hobby after my first range visit, and I have plans for several hunting trips next year already.

Family as of today:

HOWA1500 6.5 Creedmoor + MDT XRS Chassis + Athlon Argos BTR G2 6-24x50
CZ527 Carbine 7.62x39 + Vortex Crossfire 1-4x24
CZ457 Varmint 22lr + Vortex Diamondback 4-16x44

From what I've seen C21 and associated 'amendments' is nuts... 400+ pages of guns on the proposed ban list, plus it would make any airsoft or paintball guns with magazines that could be considered a replica illegal to posess- airsoft community is up in arms about the measure as well. Wish y'all the best in fighting the tyranny.

Will say one thing for our northern neighbors, they really know how to make fine chassis systems... Had MDT TAC21 on my Savage 10 and got my brother the MDT XRS for his Savage 10. Recently ordered the Blackfeather RS for an M1A... hopefully no issues receiving it during the ~month long wait for it.

all i'm going to say on the matter is this: when a group of gang members decide to do a drive-by, are they checking if each participants firearm is properly acquired, registered, and everyone has their appropriate personal registration details as well?

laws only stop honest people. no different than door locks.

And the odds of anything actually being banned are between nil and zero.

I have several guns including 4 AR pattern rifles.

My favorites are a home built custom in 260 REM, an Annie MPR, a Ruger super Blackhawk Bisley in .45 C, and a 4” Walter PPQ in 9mm.

I don’t see any of them being banned in my lifetime. I’m sure my kids will inherit all of them. All that said, one day, when the paranoia peaks again, I may sell an AR or 2.

A best mm pistol I decided on getting just came in today...

Installed Amory Craft adjustable trigger, positive reset spring, and takedown lever which had waiting for it... much better than stock. Fits like a glove in the Four Brothers duty/competition drop holster as well. Only thing left I'd really like to change is the sights... not a fan of the same colored night sights, how low they are, or how weakly they illuminate. Looking to try out some Night Fision sights for it.

It's not politics or philosophical?

Like the EPA banning car things, talking about it isn't political at all.

Objectively, this just isn’t true in the vast majority of countries. Laws can have huge impacts on outcomes. I think most gun laws here try to appease certain groups trying to advocate for less gun deaths, while doing nothing to reduce the number of guns or much to reduce access to guns because laws also need to appease the second amendment advocates.

Quote:
In 2018, Japan, a country of 125 million people, only reported nine deaths from firearms – compared with 39,740 that year in the United States, according to data compiled by the Sydney School of Public Health at the University of Sydney.

Under the revision, possessing a gun as part of an organized crime syndicate can lead to up to 15 years in prison; possessing more than one gun is also a crime, which carries a prison term of up to 15 years. Discharging a gun in a public space, meanwhile, can result in a life sentence.
https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/08/asia/...hnk/index.html

The fact is self-defense from strangers, or stranger homicides, are a small percentage of gun deaths, and gang-on-gang violence is far more common than gang-on-random-civilian violence. Most people who are murdered are killed by family or acquaintances, so in many ways, it is “good” people with guns that are the bigger problem than bad people. “Good” people with guns commit the majority of mass shooting, which while small, are incredibly impactful to communities that are affected. Suicides are more than half of gun deaths, so again, “good honest” people using guns and not strangers/criminals are the bigger problem. But in regards to violent criminals, many people with violent histories and who have records legally purchase weapons or have very easy access to obtain guns illegally.

Seems like the obvious solution is to eliminate hand guns and assault style guns, as neither are needed for hunting or home defense. A limited number of bolt-action hunting rifles and small shotguns can be owned per household. Rentals with GPS tagged guns on hunting grounds after providing license is possible. Red flag laws and background checks should be tight. People should need a license to own a gun, which greatly increases responsible gun access and ownership. I’ve considered whether there could be access to renting hand guns and assault guns at shooting ranges, but the chance of theft and likelihood the guns will get into the hands of criminals goes up. Seems like bullet control is best. There should be no bullets for hand guns or assault style guns available. Shot guns are limited to low capacity chambers like 3-5.

Murder rose by 30% in 2020 and aggravated assaults rose 12%, but rape and robbery went down. Most people justify needing a firearm for self-defense from strangers, but is it warranted?

That table with number of guns owned vs the number of so called "mass shootings" just tells you that it has nothing to do with guns. Rather it has something to do with the health of the society, or lack thereof.

And forcing more retarded regulations and limitations doesn't contribute to the society's health, well in a positive way at least.

Ok. Now that those so inclined have ejaculated, let’s all enjoy the refractory interval and relax. This is ‘murika. Little to nothing useful will happen.
