Headlight issues

Hello everyone, I’m in need of some help with one of my headlights. My passenger side randomly went out one day and today I was attempting to change the bulbs thinking that was the issue but I noticed something else in the bulb housing Not sure if I’m able to replace that part alone or if I need a brand new headligh. Not sure what that part would be called also so any help is appreciated thanks! I attached some pictures of the drivers side and passengers side bulb housing.

I think you are looking at the high beam shutter (or whatever it's called in there).

The replacement D4S lamp should be all you need, unless the ballast is bad. And it's not inside the headlight.

Yea I bought new bulbs and was about to change them since it’s not the first time one of them has gone out. But when I opened it it seemed like the area where the bulb slides into with the notches it has seemed like it had melted. Not sure if it was caused by the bulb since it was cracked when I was gonna replace it.

You are going to need a new headlight assembly. While you may be able to install a bulb in that damaged assembly, it will likely continue to have issues. Not sure what would've caused that....were you running aftermarket bulbs?
