for the past 30 years of my semi-conscious existence, a lack of a facebook, linkedin, instagram, or twitter has not prevented me from staying alive, acquiring any products related to staying alive or desired for entertainment, and has not had any effect on any of my employment opportunities what so ever.

what do i 'need' them for really?

that's really not much of an understatement to me.

i know for a fact that facebooks feedback loop has played a significant part in the reason that my estranged brother and his wife refuse to even attempt to make amends with the rest of the family. it's also played a significant part in her fear of child abductions and child injuries. the last time we seriously talked, you'd think child abductions in a 10 mile radius where we lived were at 10-20 minimum per day.

Why Youtube? I don't even consider it a social media platform. I know there's a lot of inane crap there but there is also a lot of interesting and useful information too.
