Easy choice for me.
I was thinking more about running alcohol, but good to know gasoline is less expensive as well.

They also sell a good 10 year Tawny port if you like port. It is made by Quinta, the same house that makes Taylor Fladgate. It is about $16. A 10 year Taylor is about $30. Good deal.

Gas at my Costco is about 8 cents less than the Maverik. Not worth an extra trip, but while You are there.

Today I learned I'm far more privileged than I acknowledge. I've been without water for only 2 days and I'm feeling like a drama queen. Others have been without it along with power or food for much longer. Maybe it's because I'm living off only espresso shots now, not sure?

I was pissed about not having power for quite a few days, but after seeing what you guys in TX are going through I decided I didn't have it too bad.

My thoughts exactly. I mean, without getting too political, you can say those in less fortunate regions of town are having it much harder. But being in South Austin without water is awful. I can live without much food or limiting my water use, but having none really sucks.

I learned yesterday, very much the hard way, that you need to wear a filtration mask when cutting, routing, and sanding white oak. I'm still learning it today.

This is why I always have a case of water bottles sitting around. I don't drink them, just like to have them available.

My parents used to fill the bathtub with water before a storm so we had water to flush the toilets too. We were on a well so no power=no water.

Good luck, hope things get better soon.

The house we own now has a small creek/river running through the backyard, about 100 yards from the house, and I have water purification equipment on hand. Our last house prior to this one had a dug well we could lower a bucket down into. BOTH places had/have frequent power outtages; we were without power for more than a week in the middle of February in one (where it got to -20F frequently). I KNOW you folks down in Texas are really suffering, and there's no way you could have expected this... I'm sorry and wish there was something I could do. Personally, I always have kerosene on hand for our center-draft oil lamps which provide plenty of light and some heat, wood on hand for our wood stove, four burners worth of alcohol stoves (yes, I love to cook), and water in the creek for flushing, bathing, and drinking after it's been purified. I actually look FORWARD to power outtages.... reminds of what's really important.

I am on the same power grid as a major national children's hospital. It is a #1 priority line and if our power is out for more than about an hour it means all hell has broken loose and no power is the least of of my worries.
