Front Bumper Swap
Has anyone replaced their front bumper with a GR86 or aftermarket? I'd love to hear tips or experiences (where to order, what paint will cost). I'd like an oem GR86 bumper but open to alternatives. I hope to do it immediately after picking up the car and sell the stock bumper as new.

The opinions on this forum seemed to strongly favor the GR's bumper for the last year and GR86s seem much harder to get than BRZs. I'm surprised I might be the first person on here who had to get the BRZ and wants to put a GR bumper on it. It'll get GR rear springs and swaybar too for a "best of both worlds" stock suspension.

I would've done it already but I still haven't got the car. Unlike most I've now been waiting over a year. I already priced it out and know how much it will cost to get everything. The conversion this time around is significantly easier than the first gens.
Irony is I had plans to do this for the 1st gen. Basically a WRB FRS. The only thing that scuttled that plan was I could get an FRS notably cheaper. Thus I ended up with a red Monogram. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk |

I tried for a year and a half. Subaru called and said they can have one by May (my ideal delivery time). Toyota still has no idea when or if they can get me one. My hand was forced but I'm happy about it. I'm paying MSRP at a dealer 20 minutes from my house where I've bought a car before instead of something above MSRP at a dealer 1.5hrs away.

I saw a Facebook post of a WRB BRZ that had a GR86 bumper, I'll dig around later tonight to find it (not even sure what car group it was in), but he mentioned that it cost him $1200 including the paint.

I'm seeing the bumper for $350-500 but I also need the 2 black vent trims, the grill, and probably some other bits. I was expecting to pay $100-200 to have it painted and installation would be something I could do myself.

Wow! That looks so good it has me reconsidering my body/wheel colors. I had one of the first USA STis (remember it in Blue River Pat?) in blue /gold and now it's my neighbor's. I was gonna go for a more subdued look this time but MAN would they look good together.
I wasn't really into the WRB BRZ, but seeing it with the other bumper and better design gold wheels changes it for me. |

I should have mentioned that I got the parts through a friend at a dealer. It cost me $960 including tax just for the bumper, grille, both parts of the tow hook cover, and the side bumper vents. It was $116 for the Toyota badges front and rear (the grille comes with the GR already installed). I also only spent $150 to have the bumper painted. Depending on how much you spend on parts / labor / paint it can easily run you into the ~2k region. I did not buy any of the parts that go on the backside of the bumper because the stock BRZ parts fit, I'm not sure if they are actually different or not but the parts diagrams between the BRZ and GR86 look 100% identical. Beware about buying the bumper online for those cheaper ~$500 price ranges, they typically won't want to ship it as it does not come in a box or if they will its outrageously expensive. It will not, its about 1/4" too wide for the area the "T" goes into. |

Copy-and-paste'able part numbers from the screenshot above:
SU003-09195 bumper SU003-09901 grille SU003-09257 left vent duct SU003-09256 right vent duct SU003-09259 tow hook cover (lower half) The screenshot says that SU003-09261 is the upper half for the tow hook cover, but personally I bought SU003-09260 pre-painted in Neptune Blue (color code DAR).
