I should be a poster boy.... haven't touched mine in at least a month.

I'm coming from a 6.8 LS3 swapped FD RX-7, which at 50/50 post swap is a better place to start.

But yeah, if you're not doing the work yourself you'll come out WAY ahead getting a C6 Z06.
I also have a 6.8L LS3. The latest iteration of my Chevubaru will be very close to the weight of a factory 86. The only creature comfort I’m losing is AC. Will still have radio, cruise control, back up camera, interior etc.

With the dry sump oil tank, battery, surge tank, and fire suppression all in the trunk I think I should see a nice improvement over the 56/44 weight split. No room for groceries but oh well!

Only reason to do this swap is if you love the platform, love wrenching or you’re dying to do an LS swap. I enjoy having a sleeper that pulls on C7 Z06’s on the straights. I could’ve had a fleet of Corvettes by now. I really do love the car though and having something unique.

The impression seems to be that it is cheap, easy and fast to swap an engine. I suppose the availability of kits does make it ever so slightly easier than six or seven years ago but it is still not cheap nor fast.
There are probably several hundred half done projects sitting and rotting under tarps beside garages for every completed swap no matter what year, make and model car you are talking about.
I would say, buying FI kit is cheaper and faster route. If they wanna do cheaper/easier swap, I would look into FA20DIT and make it FMIC instead of TMIC. Custom header. Put MoTec and all good, cuz rest are drop in... (kinda)

My swap list
350 81 toyota 4x4 350 turbo
350 85 toyota 4x4. 350 turbo
7mgte 86 toyota 2wd. R154
2jz toyota 1981 corolla r154 then 400 turbo
Sr20 1988 4x4 samurai Cd009 with duel toyota transfer cases
K24 BRZ CD009
I don't think swapping a LS in would be to difficult, but the ls does look like a tight fit.

Get a C6. The 86 is fun swapped, but it was funner when it was boosted/FA20. Coming from someone who had a turbo FA20 made 500+ whp, then swapped LS2, made 400+ whp and 400+ wtq and then sold everything and put the car back to stock. Save the headaches, save the grief, save the money and get the car that came with the engine.

You mean, you went back to NA stock or FI stock? How did it feel going back to stock after 400+ HP?

k24 turbo swap = more fun

Back to fully stock. The car is fun to drive stock, just has no guts. I flashed an OFT tune with a Tactrix cable, so it feels a bit better than fully stock.

Just keeping it a few more months before selling it to fund something else... Probably a C7, not set in stone yet.

Yes, that would have been great or any other tuner inline 4. If they would have turned the boxer into a v4 it would have been great. I'm not so much into spending hours to change spark plugs. If I spend hours working on it I want to see pistons and rods.

K24 is definitely impressive.

I have also found myself checking C7 Grand Sports several times. Hope you get one!
