Yeah. That’s what I was thinking. If we get enough people together the costs aren’t too bad.

Here's another Kyalami video.

I was looking for footage of the hybrid which Vic asked about, and just kept the video going for the lekker dice I had with a Porsche 911 Carrera 4.

This was laps 3 and 4 of session 1 - which were some of my very first laps at Kyalami ever.

I really enjoyed the circuit. Despite the walls, the speed, and the risks, I loved it, and felt comfortable from lap 1, and could give it horns.

Love Kyalami. I'll be back...

I went to Red Star today. First time, since I fitted Powerbrake discs all round and Endless pads up front with Ferodo DS Performance behind. I was also wearing Bridgestone RE002s (225/45R17) on A-Line rims as opposed to stock rims with Michelin PS4 (215/45R17)

It was FANTASTIC! The Reason for the brake upgrade was purely temperature management, now I can hammer down a few hotlaps in row and not worry too much.

The track was reversed since my last write up, so its hard to compare directly. But I am pretty sure I would have gone much faster with the new brakes and RE002s (vs stock brakes and PS4s).

It feels more direct, both "turn in" and braking are much improved. I could brake later and later as the sessions wore on. I could trail brake with way more confidence. I worked my way from 2:36.899 in session 1 to a healthy 2:28.019 in the last.

The way the 86 responds to these changes is wonderful to feel, I LOVE IT!

When my Michelin PS4s wear out I will fit the RE003s on the stock rims for a more direct comparison to the PS4s. When my Bridgestones (RE002) are done its semi-slicks fer sure.

I understand well that all the differences in tyre size and model (RE002 vs RE003 and 215 vs 225) make a difference. But so does temperature, humidity, track conditions, driver's mood etc etc etc

So please understand this is all very subjective, I include laptimes as a reference, because its how I can judge the changes and their effectiveness at speed on track. Pursuing speed like that is its own charm, the Red Mist descends and its like heaven...

However, when laptimes don't count my favourite "setup" in terms of feel was when I had very worn Primacy HP's at the back and brand new PS4s in front. Its like you have 400hp, will slide at 30 kph

But its silly and really dangerous on public roads, skidpan only And on a race track if you didn't die you spend you entire time controlling horrendous oversteer and wheelspin

My point is I think the 86 is like that slim, lithe girl I knew at school. She was fastest girl over 400m, and when she put on her dancing shoes she had more fun than anyone.

I am still not sure if I want pure speed or drifitng, I just love both SOOO much!

I know I am going to LOVE finding out...

On that note I will end with the skidpan day. I think its a great idea. I spoke to Red Star Raceway if we bring the people and money we can have there skidpan. I will reach out to the IM groups and try and see if we have the numbers or perhaps we need to join with another group (Suzuki Swifts) to make it happen?

If you keen put your hand up! If I can't see you reply or PM

86's playing at Red Star Raceway yesterday.

In the car with me is @noodlefish and ahead is @Gregore doing some very nice smooth driving.

We were both on road tyres (me with Michelin PS4's, @Gregore with Bridgestone RE002's)

The track was slow for some reason, dunno why.
My best lap of the day was 2 secs slower than my previous best on the same tyres in June last year, and I'd expected to be a second or two quicker...

I found a short clip you might enjoy having done Red Star anticlockwise recently.

Here's how you go foot flat, no braking into turn 1.
Then brake into and through the right-hander.
I'm doing 160 a that point, so it takes big goolies Enjoy.

Nice driving!

I was experimenting braking later and later here, the best I got was a quick dab just before to bring the weight forwards, otherwise the road tyres started to feel very dangerous here. Also when I just gently trail braked here the ABS kicks in quickly.

I am gonna get a set of RE-11S next week, cause the 86 deserves them

I can't wait to try them and see the difference.

Red Star has a lot of corners and it can be very hard to find your line. Guys like you (and for me, especially you) really help us noobs go faster.

Thanks for the clip Fish Eagle

And to all the noobs listen ti Fish Eagle and read his past posts!

Well done, you won't regret your decision.
What size are you getting?

Oh, and you'll be evil fast.
Because you were already evil fast on road tyres...
Sims rule!!

Takes a bit of time to get used to them though.
You must warm them up - not warm, but hot.
They can't get too hot. Punish them hard on your warmup lap.
They're very progressive, don't be scared of bullying them.
You have to push them until they scream.
They don't scream easily, but when you get confident with them, you must make them scream like... all the time.

This is RE11S screaming...

PS: You've got a PM from me on this forum from a few days ago.
You interested?

There's one more thing you'll find out.
With stickier tyres, the 86's power steering hands in it's resignation. It overheats.
You'll find that it just goes away, and you'll need truck driver arms to manhandle your car around the track.
It comes and goes, relative to how hard you push, and you'll get used to it.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you not pushing hard enough
Actually, I like it - gives great feedback and feel, but I get cramps in my arms and across the back of my neck by the end of a day on track.
Maybe I should visit the gym
