I went and looked at the PH2 & HP2010. They're both much larger filters. I took some pics to post, but this lame app keeps crashing when I try to attach them... It looks like the larger filter may be a solution. If you go that route, you also get the perks of a larger filter! I think it's time for me to buy & try.

Sent from my 1+ using a terrible app.

Derale is sending me the cover to go on top of the sandwich. Hopefully I'll get it this week. I'd much rather not have to go with a non OEM filter.

Looks like I'll be putting an order in for the derale stuff. Did they send you the part number for the cover?

Edit: ~$325? I'm not sure how much hose is needed though. So that will be the final determining factor.

Unfortunately not, derale has ignored my last email or two on the matter. I don't have the cover yet.

Lame... They're usually on point with that stuff.
I'm debating on pulling the trigger on completing my purchase as funds have sharnk for my cross country move, but I feel like I'm really going to regret not having an oil cooler for the drive.

Update: im driving from LA to DC on tuesday (see sig), so I bit the bullet and bought everything. Note: what Derale told me is wrong. The PH2 and HP2010 filters do not work. They are 22x1.5, and our car is 20x1.5
I did however find one that I think will work, the K&N HP2007, mobile M-207, or any of their counterparts, but good luck finding one locally. If you decide to buy this kit, look online for a filter.
I'll post later what I find, as I'm planning on completing my install, complete with vlog, today.
No one had these in stock. The best filter I could find is the Purolator, part number L14619. The car you need to look for is a C4 ZR1 DOHC 5.7L (1990-1995).

@F1point4 how much hose did you use, and how much extra did you end up with?

I got everything all installed. As I thought the 15732 does not fit without modification. I had to take off about 1/16 of an inch below the fitting bosses to clear the lip, so be prepared for that. Otherwise it fits fine. I ended up getting a Purolator oil filter and it fits well and works well. If I have time sometime this week I will post pictures.
Total cost was $265 for everything.

I went ahead and ordered the Mocal Sandwich plate. Didn't really want to grind on the lip, and having to special order oil filters is a bit of a pain. Hopefully everything will be here by Friday/Saturday for install. It wasn't the $300 I was hoping to spend, but still allows me to buy some corrugated plastic (to make air guides) for cheaper than an off the shelf oil cooler.

Bit of an update:

Really liking the quality on the Mocal Sandwhich plate. I didn't expect such large seals.
