Scion Dealership for Warranty Work?

Hey all,

Just a quick question, my wife's Scion TC is having burning oil consumption problems. Burned 2.8 quarts in 5,000 miles and it just started doing it, or it may have and I just haven't noticed =/. In any case, I found a TSB regarding this engine and I think my wife's car falls under it:

Same engine as those cars. Anyone know a reputable Scion dealership in the bay area to do this?

doesn't apply to your wifes tc unfortunately, what year is it?

that tsb was for mostly camrys/rav4s that had bad rings from the factory. mostly the 2007/2008s, but thats been fixed for a long time.

anyway, is the tc brand new or the older body style?

It's the older body style. 2007 Scion TC, which is the same year those issues were had in the those cars. Same engine that exists in Camry's/Rav 4's, which doesn't make sense to me.

Disregard, even though this falls under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty (car is at 57,000) it does not qualify under the 60 months. Found the Scion TSB number but I can't find the tsb anywhere online: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/show...&postcount=138

If you have it, I'd love to take a look at it. At least it'd be good information just in case I need to get it fixed externally.

Just going to bump this thread, after my complaint almost a year ago, Scion reached out and acknowledged there may be an issue where some Scion's may report excessive engine oil consumption that my have have been under the TSB. I have to get it checked and tested (oil plug, etc. sealed and me driven for a few months)

Once again, just asking if anyone knows of a good dealership to do this at, let me know.

Thanks!

Come to Hayward Toyota. I work there as a tech, been doing a lot of oil consumption tests. Should be no problem doing it to yours

I just got something in the mail similar to this for my tc. It basically says they're going to extend out the warranty for this issue until December of 2016. Seems like they're finally going to acknowledge the excessive oil consumption issues that these engines have. I should post up some pics of the letter.

It took them long enough. I was burning a quart a month when carpooling with my wife. What year is your TC?

I have a 2007. It's burning probably the same amount as yours or maybe more.

In the letter it describes doing an oil consumption test where they seal the system and you drive ~1k miles and then come back to see how much oil was used.

My only fear of this is that over the course of the 1k testing miles it's going to be over a quart low by the time it's done with the test and that can't be good for the engine to be driving around like that.
