158900 - 156xxx = ~2900 ?

Vehicle Make:*Scion FRS
Miles After Recall Performed:2000+

Side note: sound tube was not fully tightened(gasp), but more importantly there is some cosmetic damage to my alternator. Still works so whatever.

I am taking my car in on Wednesday for the recall. I just got over 40,000 miles. It seems like a lot of people are doing spark plugs, drive belt, may be even clutch and TOB. I am just wondering at 40,000, should I even look at replacing any of these? Let's say I only have to pay for parts because the engine is already. What should I replace and why?

I have 45,000 miles and I went with the spark plugs and TOB. Unless you are really hard on the clutch it should last many more years.

You accumulated a lot of miles. Any problems you got on the road beside the valve spring recall? Did you changed radiator fluid

I would suggest you have them replace the spark plugs. Why? Because they are 2/3 wore out and they are a pain to replace when the engine is in the car.

Also, I would suggest you have them replace the TOB with the new, improved one. Why? Because, it will save replacing it on down the road.

Thanks guy. I will do the spark plugs, drive belt and TOB. Quick question. How much should I expect to pay for the TOB replacement if it's being performed during the recall?

The part itself costs from $35 - to $50. The labor should not be charged or maybe a few dollars. Make sure they replace it with the new, improved version.
