I feel the same way about the whole exhaust system. A Header/CBE/OP/FP should cost $1000 for all 4.

Header $400
Exhaust $400
OP + FP $200

I understand F/I costing $3500-5000 but bolt-ons are overpriced

Lol, my whole system was around the two and a half grand mark for exhaust and I thought I was doing it cheap but I am not going to put anything less then OEM quality on my car (well the boral headers i have are pretty shitty not going to lie)

But you need to really stop looking at it in terms of "3 times the price for the name only" because it simply is not that way.
I'm not some 16 year old new to real life here. I understand time/money/quality/materials/etc, I just don't appreciate the prices being imposed on these simple parts for this platform. Building a header is not rocket science.

They are preying on the average young owner of this car who will either be stuck paying about half what going FI will cost like go_a_way1 said or wait it out til prices drop/buy one piece sporadically.
Paying $2500 for 30 hp is not money spent wisely but when we all expect that to get to that magic 200 WHP we are all stuck between a rock and a hard place. Really not though as this thread is evidence of, prices are getting normalized.

No one said you were. But you still don't understand why products are priced the way they are.

I own a business too so I have a little understanding of why businesses charge what they do. You know why I charge what I do for my services, because it's what I want and I get it. It really is that simple.
When what the customer wants to pay and what I want to be paid gets close, everybody walks away happy. I don't think anybody is happy paying $1k for a few metal tubes welded together. Am I wrong?
Back to the real topic...I did a Google search on the Tsudo UEL header and it all seems to be in good order.

I'll pass judgment when I've seen a photo of the collector and dyno sheets. Otherwise, it's a 288 dollar noisemaker and cat delete.

You already made my argument for me. You may be unhappy paying $1k for a few metal tubes welded together, others are perfectly happy with it as long as their own expectations are met.

Because the good parts made in America use $30+ per hour welders and $400 in quality Materials while your last car ( I assume Honda) have mass produced slave wage Asian sweat shops reproducing other companies design with inferior materials.

What's the difference between a $500 DIY computer and something prebuilt for $800-1000+?

- fit & finish
- quality control
- customer support
- R&D
- brand
- location of manufacture
- exchange rate
- distribution structure
- other intangibles

At the end of the day, each customer has their own expectation(s) and as long as the product meets their expectation(s), there's no need to belittle the difference between a $300 header and a $1200 header.

It's funny, I build my own gaming rigs and desktops for the family and all these issues seem to apply to headers and auto parts as well, support being a big one. Being able to have no questions asked have someone else do trouble shooting and replace something outright is a godsend and way less stressful

It actually is, ironically, if you want something that actually performs well.
