Jacking car on a little uneven driveway - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone jacks up his/her car on an slightly uneven driveway. Unfortunately, we have that issue and I am not sure if I really can do my basic maintenance such as tire rotation and maybe oil change by taking all precautions (rubber stopper on both sides of the wheels, using jack stands etc)

Below are some pictures of the slope.

This is the driveway and the most flat part is the top where you see my car.

This is how it look when I take the picture on a leveled surface.

This shows how much the spot is off.

Any suggestions are appreciated

Orient chassis in line with the slope, perpendicular to how shown in the image. You won't be able to lift all four but it will be safe to jack as long as the opposite end is resting firmly and evenly on wheel chocks.

I can't publicly endorse working underneath it but might consider doing so myself if it passes my shake test. I'm not gentle. I apply MUCH more force than I would wrenching with any tool.

I suggest you, set the emergency brake, chalk the tires and just jack up one side at a time. You outta be OK.

Handbrake is ok in conjunction with chocks. Always set the brake after lifting. Don't want the wheels to rotate onto, or away from the chocks. Want everything to be in equilibrium before setting the jack stands.

You can also jack one SIDE, NOT END, at a time the way you're parked in the image. I'd do that all day long.

@humfrz is on point. I rarely jack the sides.

I read the abbreviated tile and wondered where this was going.

Personally I would find someplace else to do the work.

doesn't look that bad to me. i'd park facing uphill for an oil change, and keep the car sideways like you've got it for tire rotations.

Thanks all for the input.
I was also thinking getting the car aligned with the slope. Since I wanted to jack the car from the back and front (thinking to install the under spoiler kit) to put the stands, I was scared the jack will move with back

I think as many suggest, align the car to the slope jack from one side first put the jack stand and then do the same on the other side. So I will have the back lifted.

What is the reason and where do we chalk the tires. Sounds very new to me.

Welp, maybe you're not old enough to have to do that. But, I have to mark (chalk) the tires when I rotate them so as I can remember which one was where and where it goes to. In case I get distracted by the need for a nap and have to take a break.

Hell, anything is better than what we had to use, back in the day.

Iffen you have never had to change a tire, on the side of a gravel road, in the dark, with a foot of snow on the ground, using a jack like this, you just ain't lived dangerously. And yes, it was on a hill and the road ran downhill, both ways -
