Grand Caravan was a faultless continent cruiser.
2006 I did the back side of the Rockies in March. From Missoula with 8 inches of snow down to Tucson. Looking at what's available now though, dunno.

I'm not a Mercedes fan but I'm impressed with fuel efficiency of my wife's c300. It's sporty-ish and stupid comfortable. It's also packed with expensive gadgets just waiting for the warranty to expire.
Also hate the turbo lag but that's what it takes to get a little four-banger to push such a heavy chassis and still sip fuel like a hummingbird on the highway.

I mean for 80K you're looking at a good JDM import, Mid 2010s Corvette, BMW M2 (New) M4(Mid 2010s). AWD Charger (Great on gas). Lexus Coupes. Another Porsche? Blackwing, CTS, Engine Swap a project car.

Not if you are going new, no. There are version of the CTS-V that were coupes.
The new V Blackwings are going to above your price range anyway. You could get a twin-turbo 6 CT5-V under your range.

If I had $80k for a highway cruiser I'd look at fast wagons. More room for cargo/people, looks good, usually AWD, and usually more efficient at speed than a truck/van. My Buick is OK for long highway trips, but I've been considering upgrading (?) to the Volvo V60 Recharge phev in particular (that's the fast version) 450+ hp wagon thats rated for 30mpg.

I don't have a dashcam video, but something similar happened a few months back. Car pulls to the side of the interstate, door opens, guy gets out and starts walking across the highway full of 60-70 mph traffic without looking, almost gets hit but just keeps walking diagonally across the 4 lane highway with his back to now stopped cars. The car then pulls away quickly slamming the door that was opened shut, pulls across 2 lanes of traffic only to dart back to the exit on the side of the road they were on originally then pull over again. People are strange.
