Same as with their ICE cars, Porsche are taking a maximalist approach with their EVs. I'd prefer they build at least ONE car with a more minimalist approach which would fit perfectly with their heritage. And I don't think they'd have any problems moving smaller/lighter-weight sports cars whether ICE or hybrid or electric. But lightweight sports cars just isn't something they've done for a long time. IMO, that's too bad...

In fact the A110 was the French answer to the Italian 4C, but Renault didn't bother to join the US market after the low sales of their Italian counterpart. So, don't blame them they didn't offer Alpine to you at all.
Not blaming them for anything. It is too bad, but I think if Renault wanted to get back into the US market it would take a much larger strategy than just coming in with a niche sports car.

I'll also kindly disagree about the non-well established record of French manufacturers on building sports cars. They are at least the same competent to the German manufacturers and in some areas they are even better. Problem is more political and which countries are promoted economically after WWII (i.e. Germany in Europe), but I won't get more into such details.
I'm sure the competency is there. But particularly in the U.S., French manufacturers are not seen as having any kind of sports car heritage for, geez, I dunno how long, my lifetime at least!

5. Too heavy in the US version. 342 lbs heavier than the EU version according to Car and Driver.

TBH, I think that I could get over everything but the last bit. The weight difference is awful, and it starts at the frame. Why bother at that point? All the compromises of a lightweight car without the actual lightness.

I definitely got my GT's confused. Thanks for the correction

GT3 is best car I have ever driven, lol. At Speedvegas I turned better lap times in that than the Audi R8, the Acura NSX, or the Ferrari GTB. To be fair though, the Porsche was the last car drove and the Ferrari was the first... Also their instructors were great so it may have been just me growing as a driver from learning the track and the advice from the guy in the right seat.
