Best way... sure the wax and wash things listed above. Also, learn how to properly use rubbing compound and touch up paint, ask a friend with an older car if you can use it for practice.

I was clearly joking and was curious about the paddle shifts. Words of the joker "why so serious"?

Again tho. Big difference between automatic, and sequential Gear boxes.
Can anyone guess the main difference?

torque converter/clutch?
Gotta be honest and say I'm replying solely for your response haha

I'm love my auto.

Coming from a standard RX-8 & MKV GTI, my next car had to be an auto due to a previous knee injury. I had the potential cars down to: R56 Cooper S, PRHT Miata, and to a lesser extent MK6 GTI...pretty much anything sporty with an auto...I didn't even have the 86 on the radar...

That was until I test drove a friend's BRZ (standard). The drive changed me. It didn't have the Zip of the mini...but it also didn't have the plow and numbness through the steering wheel and pedals...the miata's driving dynamics were good...but not as sharp as the 86's. I honestly thought I would miss the cargo room of the GTI...but I've managed

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I miss the feeling of the standard...but in the end The auto still gives me the great driving dynamics that I wanted all along. That's what matters to me

less than 1 sec. frankly, it's probably faster than most people can do with a manual.

You cant launch at 5000rpm.
You cant Shift lock, Drift.
You can hardly power over drift.
You cant feint, Drift.
What is this car? A road going drift car....

Auto in FRS defeats the purpose of why the car was made...
Attachment 55187
and what if I told you...not everyone bought this car with the purpose of using it for drifting?

although it is true that automatic transmissions are useless for drifting (on any rwd car), this car was created to be a basic platform with a good foundation for tuners and enthusiasts; the sole purpose is not for a road going drift car, as i can see that this car is being utilized in all forms of racing ranging from the track, time attacks, drifting, to autocross and beyond. it is not strictly a drift intended car. it just happens to be on a platform that can drift.

yes, this car was made with the ae86 in mind. it's the spiritual successor. but even the ae86 was not a single purpose car. it was recognized and liked for its balance, however lacking in power, provided a means to introduce beginners to a rwd platform. same can be said for a car like the mazda miata.

it is a popular car used for drifting, because it is affordable and easy to work with. but from a drifting point of view, it seems to me that the s-chassis from nissan is by far more utilized than the ae86, as can be seen in drifting in japan and in the usa.

but, i'd rather not derail this thread any further, as the OP wanted some feedback on his car. And i'm just here to let him know that it's not the end of the world. Yes he wont be able to clutch kick for drifts, he won't be able to dump his clutch for launches; but aside from drifting dynamics, working a third pedal, and slotting the shifter into gears.. the car and it's 'feel' is equivalent with that of its manual counterpart. And as for his paint, well.. black is a high maintenance color, but it will look the best when clean.

Again my hole gripe was the few posts that went way to far...
Are you still trying to get at the fact that I simply mentioned that high-performance vehicles are now shipping DCT automatic transmissions?
