I can tell just from the photos that the duck tail is an absolute deal breaker for me. If I want the car, it would mean either buying the BRZ version, or finding a friendly dealer willing to swap trunk lids with a base car.

Duck tail = not gonna be in my driveway

Remember the Toyota 860 and how they didn't paint the entire car?

I'd wager anything is possible when it comes to paint and the 86/BRZ.

We haven't seen the US spec BRZ yet, it's possible it will get the same duck tail. I think if the black bar between the taillights wasn't there, the ducktail wouldn't look quite as out of place

These designs predated the Porsche 'whale tails' by decades.

Check out these true beauties on wheels. Something like the Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale, or Jaguar XKE Coupe, would have its looks utterly destroyed by a duck tail. They don't need such nonsense. They're gorgeous without them. The BRZ is no Sprint Speciale, but it's still a very attractive car, and IMHO, much better without any spoiler, duck tail or wing.

To each his own. But I think the classics never go out of style.
Well 'old timer', I guess cars were that slow back then that putting downforce on the rear never occurred to them!

I jest, yes they were all pretty sports cars in the pre-downforce era.

The exaggerated duck bill transforms the look into something a lot stronger.

Thats not going to fly with everyone. Particularly those looking for a more subtle refined looks.

There is a fair bit more 'look at me' with it.

I ADORE IT. I cannot wait, and just pray that the AU version gets the same, because I did not see that one the Japanese model.

Opinions are definitely more mixed than I thought! I quite like the duckbill, especially in white! I think white really works well with the vents and the darker Premium wheels, and with the shape in general.

I'm still reserving judgment for when I get to see the car in person, though! But overall, I'm happy thus far. Can't wait to get this thing on UEL+E85+Tune

Lol about those flipping out over the rear spoiler...

Don't worry, the base model doesn't have it.

Guess I'll be ditching my beater transmission too. It has served me well thus far.

Moto-san has some insight from his history with the development of the 86 and if we do see 12.5:1 A/F, then it will definitely replicate the success people have had with the FA20 to getting more Mid-range Torque (new Peak on the FA24) and Top-end Power.

I am very pleased with the Powertrain improvements and Aesthetically, the car appeals to a more dynamic design. I agree the First-gen in the Kouki design that it became more unique from other Sports Cars, but I like seeing Aero improvements. My co-workers love the car in Red so I'm now debating if I stick with my original intention for WRB. Fall can't come any sooner as long as Production keeps progressing well!
Good news on the OEM market is that Part Sourcing is getting nearly back to typical rates. Less expedites and more demand for labor.

That what the Left does. If your going catless header, install that, before dropping coin on exhaust. With a tune, there's little gain, and stupid noise, with the header cat gone. I sold my nameless axleback, after the header 7 tune, as it was just too loud. The stock system actually sounds good this way.

Dislike the add-on duck bill. Need a spoiler-delete option.

Anyone know what the wheel specs are, i.e. bolt pattern and offset? Just wondering if gen 1 wheels will fit.
I doubt the lug pattern changed. That usually goes with bigger hubs/brakes, and the brakes are the same, as far as I know. When the GR is released into the wild, we'll need a "parts that swap" thread...I'm grasping at straws, but it would be awesome if I decided to trade up to a GR, that my header would bolt up.

The duck bill keeps that component resembling the Supra which is a more expensive car, so probably a good thing. They'll probably reserve the OEM cf offerings for Supra-only during vehicle life.

Way to get political with an obnoxiously simple non-take. But I guess that's what the right does.
