Exactly. I would pay a ridiculous amount of money for a clean Fiat 128. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you ask my wife...), 128s in any condition are like hen's teeth, let alone clean ones.

The Top Gear Vegas episode where they get their butts kicked on the drag strip by FWD rice is worth the watch.

It was exactly like the one below except it had a u shaped bar on the front bumper and had larger/wider tires on the back (even though it was FWD, the original owner didn't really understand that).

If I stumbled across a solid original or a good restored one today I'd buy it. Of course, they have all pretty much rusted away to nothing by now. it was a great, fun car with lots of good memories.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't go seeking out one, and would not pay stupid "Barrett Jackson" type money for it. But as a little runaround it would be fun to own.

There will be car shows with middle aged men drooling overpriced out Civics, Celicas and even Neons because "I had one just like this". I doubt the family that bought that bottom trim Chev in 1955 sat around and said "oh boy this car will be huge in 50 years or so" but even a rotted hulk can now be sold to some guy that had one during his glory years in 1972. We are still too close to the age of these FWD cars for them to seem collectable or classic but their day will come. Not all "classic"cars are good and not all good cars become "classics". It really boils down to what the old guys in each generation had or wanted when they were young.

I personally think the Integra GSR/Type R will be a future collectors car even though it is FWD. During the 90s it was consistently one of the most stolen cars in the country. Finding a clean one is tough today, and 20 years from now will be almost impossible. I already see clean ITRs selling for over 20k these days. The GSR isn't going for nearly as much, but 20 years from now, you never know.

Almost everyone I know has fond memories of 90s Integras, both car people and non-car people.

"Clean" being the operative word. Nobody is interested in riced-out junk, but it seems that those are the ones that survive.

It's because they were (and still are) one of the best handling FWD cars out there. I miss mine

You missed the mark so bad, it's nots even funny. Though I'm sure you meant to post this picture, since the silhouette is nearly identical, and even things like the tail lights take cues from it...

The integra comes to mind because I just recently bought a stock one from the original owner. I've owned Hondas before, but never an Integra.

This car is really impressive out of the box, and a lot of fun. It actually reminds me a lot of my FRS. I originally bought it with the intention of flipping it, but the more I drive it, the more I want to keep it.

Keep it! It's a gem in that condition!

I think the new Supra concept will try harder for the 2000gt vibe.... It has what appears to be a wraparound windshield and a nice, long nose.

Again maybe nobody wants the riced out junk here and now but the guys that have them now may very well prefer them over a pristine stock one in 30 years. We tend to apply or own values to these things when there is just as large a group with the totally opposite thought on the subject out there.

You do have to include the cost of the parts and labor when it's nicely done. There is a world of difference between that and the typical "ricer" mods.

Yes of course. I was using that more to show variation and desirability than price really. There will always be a market for the riced version even (especially?) many years from now.
