higher Boost?

So i want to boost higher than 7psi, Maybe 9psi, how could I do this?

I have the fa20club kit + external waste gate + blow off,
I was told all i have to do is switch the spring in the wategate to boost higher?

prick answer: if you have to ask that, you should probably sell the turbo kit before you blow up your car and/or hurt yourself.

nice guy answer: you need a boost controller, and a retune.

Contact FA20Club. As you may need fueling upgrades ect. They will be able to get you straight and the parts required to do what you are looking to do. Have fun.

I figured you needed a boost controller but when i had my genesis , i just played around with the actuator, and i was able to raise the boost up very little.. I don't know why someone would tell me to change the springs.....
i figured not sense.

Either a manual boost controller, electroinc boost controller, EBC Solenoid or bigger spring. Oh, also new tune to account for higher PSI.

An external gate opens up when the desired pressure (boost) is reached to dump excess exhaust to stop the turbo making more boost, this pressure is altered by changing the springs inside the wastegate... The actuator your talking about from your genesis was obviosly on an internally gated turbo, is esentially the same thing.. I take it when you say fiddled with it you were adjusting the rod going from the actuator to the exhaust housing on the turbo.

Hope I've made that clear enough and worded right :s

Yeah that's exactly what I did. I'm still in the learning process I appreciate it guys.

So from what I understand I can get an electronic boost controller and then have Toni retune it.

if you're just starting out i'd stick to an mbc. you'll get much better results much easier with a quality mbc than you will with an electronic setup. unless you plan you change boost while you drive a lot, they're the best option in terms of ease of use/tuning and reliability.

another option is to get the boost solenoid and just have tony tune it, but that's probably still more expensive/error-proned than a good mbc.

Any you recommend? Would I need it to be retuned of I'm just raising the boost 2psi
