this is a nice video discussing technologies in the S2000... long but interesting. posting it since i saw some posts several pages back talking about how the BRZ was superior since the S2K's tech was from the 90's. While true, I wouldn't call it a slouch.

Haven't watched video; didn't the S2K have some kind of monocoque x-brace/frame that was super state of the art?

It's a high rigidity X-bone frame as shown in the picture. The video discusses it a bit too, I believe it starts talking about it somewhere in the middle of the vid.

I've been contemplating between a fr-s for a while and just recently started thinking about the s2000 and the lotus exige. Considering the lotus is flat out expensive here in Canada and cannot be imported from the states, i only had two options left - the FR-S/BRZ and then S2000.

Since i already had a DD, i decided to buy a s2000 as a Weekend warrior/garage queen. Can't wait to have it in my hands next week!

Congrats! Details? Year/mileage/color/hopefully not the red or tan interior/etc?

I was in the same boat back in 2006 when I bought my new S2000 $49,000 from the dealer before taxes. Canadian dollar and American were pretty much on par at that time. Honda Canada was killing us with the prices. Anywho I was stuck between the Elise and the S2000. Realized the Elise would not be something I could deal with day to day. That trunk is ridiculous lol.

2004 NFR S2000 - $18500
- US import 1.5 years ago from California - Still have to do a carproof for the car
- 69,000 km / ~43000 miles
- Black Interior (What was so bad about the red interior?)
- Comes with OEM Hard top
- Comes with Both Winter (on aftermarket wheels) and Summer (on OEM wheels) tires

On Inspection from a honda tech:
- Car fully checks out with no issues on electrical/mechanical
- VTEC kicks in smoothly (Damn is it scary to bring up the car to red line on 2nd gear on a busy street at that time - I have yet to drive a faster car)
- slightly bent jack points (wrong use of jack points)
- 2 small nicks on the rear bumper (either he backed into someone or someone backed into him).
- ALL Vin stickers on all body panels still
- a $2000 claim for a dent on the front fender

What needs to be fixed/repaired as soon as my hands get on it:
- clutch master cylinder leaking which has to be repaired
- a small tear on the hard top
- hardtop strikers (comes with the sale) (rattling noted by honda tech)
- 2 small nicks on the rear bumper (still thinking about it or not).
- Seat locks

My goals for the car:
- Hard top on 3/4ths of the year so the soft top doesn't get used/stretched/torn
- as close to 100% stock as possible
- Garage kept
- Driven only on summer days (either sunrise or sunset) with the top down (I can't wait for this feeling. I dont know what it feels like but I can tell its going to be awesome because just before sunset, I love lowering down my windows and opening my sunroof to have the warm air flow through the interior)

My DD is a 2012 Hyundai Elantra - this will get me to and from work so i can pay off for the S2000 and the DD. LOL

I was looking at an exige s260 final edition in 2012 and unfortunately, it was $91000 to get in one so i decided to just have a garage queen and a DD instead.

Red/Tan interiors I just find ugly. Black all the way. I rushed to buy my 06 because I wanted white/black and that ended up being the only year it was offered like that.

Car sounds good overall, hardtop is nice

Fix that CMC leak ASAP!! And clean the hell out of the metal.. Paint will already be damaged if the fluid got to the paint but clean it up and fix it asap to prevent rusting, and maybe fix the paint under the master if it's damaged.

AP1 red/black is THE s2000 interior to have. LOVE it!
I had been set on getting a yellow/black S2000, but as soon as I saw the red/black interior in my silverstone, it was over

Some read is okay. I like most iterations of the red/black. The all red is horrid. And by all red, I mean red EVERYTHING, including the dash. Dear god.

Will do. THANKS! i will get this done ASAP! just a question, will it be hard to paint that area? I wonder how much that'll cost me.

My friend (the honda tech) topped him off so that he could go home and not starve/ruin my car! lol.

I agree that the black dash/red seats are amazing!

Can't be as bad as the suzuka blue color and the blue interior. *VOMIT*

for those who own one, can you please describe what it feels like to drive this car with the top down during breezy summer sunsets?

LOL yeah the black/red in a later silverstone for example is more acceptable, but I still prefer all black. The all tan, slightly less tan, all red and IMO blue were all horrible looking interiors. The black/red is acceptable because once you sit down you no longer see the red for the most part, although I'd still swap the door cards and at least put black floor mats in.
