Well, in my opinion, that's too bad.

I recall my lst drive in a Japanese car, it was early 1980s, driving a mid 1970s Japanese car for the first time. Refreshing I'd have called it. So many years driving Americans cars which were too isolated from the outside environment. Too quiet.
This first time in a Japanese car reminded me of Japanese tin toy cars I played with as a kid. They were thin, somewhat fragile, but well detailed.

In a car, I want to hear the tires, the rocks hitting the rear fender wells, all the good stuff which keeps me in tune with the road.
In fact, take that radio thing and shove it. Gimme a discount for a radio delete. I wanna hear and feel the car and it's workings myself whilst driving the thing.

Ever driven a car with no carpet ? Great idea it is, you can hear more of what's going on with the car. And so easy to clean.

Guess they, the engineers and designers are going for an upscale customer this time. Just look at that silly fuzz on the passenger side dash. Too fancy and also too bland color wise for me. Give me the faux carbon fiber of old. And me, I've never faulted the interior of the 13-16 models. I think it's extremely well thought out, perfect for a driver's car.

I just can't wait to hear all the technical details of changes for the 2017 model year. I care not about the looks of either the exterior or interior...just please let me know how the car is going to drive differently. Like...Have they yet done anything to fix the steering feel of the car ? Just another area in which I wanna be in touch with the road more...in my hands.
Oh I totally agree with you. Love hearing the noise of from the road... just we're are very rare kind.

As for steering feel, I'm not 100% sure. I haven't fully read the detail info (due to a lot of things on my plate), but I know what you mean. It has a bit of dull feel in certain time. It's due with electrical PS. Hopefully, we'll find out more soon.

Don't know how many times I could've used a Caltrop button this week alone.

Keep in Mind the silver Car at NYIAS is a Prototype. Items inside are not final, nor is Toyota confirm any releases of thing that the car will come with, so wait up. The NYIAS press release is telling of what's in the NYIAS car and not of the actual car that you'll see around Fall.

Ahem yeah I'm sure we'll see something from the Japanese side now. What ever rolls out this fall might not be the only trim of 86. During an interview with one of the manager I was given the info "possibly more than one trim" would t be surprised if that guage isn't in the lower trims we will see.
From my personal experience however, I like the feel of the new wheel more. That large 86 logo makes me feel like the car is ultra special And as much as I love the Pistons, the little circles are a more refined nice touch.

Feel free to ask me questions if anyone has em, I'd be happy to answer as much as I can, but like Ichi on somethings I cannot tell you.

Now that the Scion business model is gone I think Toyota might just do a GT Limited trim here to compete with the BRZ.

If Subaru hasn't announced anything yet, I wonder if they are considering the possibility of just dropping the BRZ altogether in North America.

I actually like the new wheel better. More akin to the traditional 3 spoke design. Reminds me, slightly, of the wheel that came in the '98 supras.

And it would be fantastic if we could get trims for 2017, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I like the first wheel, plus I don't think I can train my thumbs to do more than pick up and hang on to stuff, multi-tasking is really not my thing

But I am looking forward to the "steering wheel delete thread"

If you delete the steering wheel controls, how you gonna work that new multi function display on the right side of the dash.

oops I forgot to add "insert sarcasm" Not the controls, the whole wheel. I keep thinking back to a tail light delete thread and still laugh about it, then it went to windshield delete etc etc .... My mistake @krayzie

why do people hate steering wheel buttons so much? They are pretty nice and convenient and keep your attention on the road. It's pretty common nowadays...
