It sounds like people would be happy with a header and a tune if not FI. I don't think there's any options for us in California is there?
I'm happy with my FR-S, but some hypothetical builds... If you start going forged wheels and LSD upgrades.. well, that will just blow the price out of the water Drool Code:
$40,245 Total $25,495 Suburu BRZ $3,500 Supercharger $3,000+ Big Brakes $1,500 Coilovers $1,000 Wheels $1,000 Tires $1,000 Exhaust $1,000 Bushings & Braces $1,000 Lip Kit (looks, not $$ track) $850 Header $400 Sway Bars $500 Clutch Code:
$32,545 Total $25,495 Suburu BRZ $500 Upgraded Brakes $1,000 Coilovers [fixed height] $1,000 Wheels $1,000 Tires [could go lower, but PSS!] $800 Exhaust $500 Bushings & Braces $1,000 Lip Kit $850 Header $400 Sway Bars Mike

$1,000 is not OEM+ coilovers, its junk. Why would you spend $3k on stopping an already light car, but only $1.5k on the cars main highlight, its ride.

The reason people won't take the "why wait, just build your own" is because there is a BIG difference between financing a car and putting out 10k cash on a car that is financed and being up the creek when parts start failing.
Sure on paper you might say hey you can do it all for 5k or something but modifying cars becomes a rabbit hole... As for my "STi" Keep OEM suspension, add camber bolt, maybe less than 1 inch lower springs. ~$500 Innovate supercharger when IC comes out ~$5,000 Robispec cooling if it will fit, or some other oil cooler and radiator ~$1,000 Exedy stage 1 clutch ~$500 Cheap 17" wheels and 245 Pilot Super Sports ~$1,500 Front BBK ~$2,000 Gauge + Install ~$500 Dyno Tuning ~$1,500 So there is a BASIC build and it totals $12,000 already and that is installing most of the parts yourself. If you are only on the street you can probably stay OEM suspension and skip the BBK and cooling, but that is still closing in on $10,000 |

Exterior:
Upgraded Aero Small Rear Wing Interior: New Bucket Seats (JDM STI Seats) Different Interior Trim (Gloss black maybe) Altered Gauge Cluster and Steering Wheel (STI Badges) STI Push Button Start Wheels/Brakes/Tires: 17" BBS Wheels Better/Wider Tires (Maybe 235/45) STI 4pot/2pot Brakes Suspension/Chassis: Stiffer spring rates/struts (1-1.5" overall drop is fine) Upgraded Bushings Upgraded Control Arms Thicker Sway Bars 200lb+ Weight Reduction Engine/Drivetrain: Improved Intake Design Improved Header and Exhuast Design ECU Changes Valvetrain/Headwork (rev to 8,000rpm from the get go) Upgraded clutch and flywheel Lightweight Driveshaft Approx. 230-240bhp Honestly, if you think about it, all Subaru really needs to do is make this: Throw on all the optional STI aftermarket parts on a BRZ limited, take off some weight, improve the handling a bit, add some power and call it a day. We're probably never gonna get some sort of F/I standard with the car so instead of pouting over it, focus on something else: weight. Go from a 200hp, 2800lb car to a 240hp, 2500lb car. Have you seen the price of the STI coilovers for the Impreza (2.5RS/i, WRX, and STI)?
