Numbers analysis before anyone has had a chance to touch one. Take it with a grain

He took a lot of time and used a lot of words to not really say much. For the math he did, he coulda just gone by power/weight and predicted relative acceleration performance as well or better.

I have done vehicle performance analysis in school (aircraft) and in a previous job (electric vehicles), and also for my LS V8 RX-7 to predict its standing mile performance. I was within 1mph (184 predicted, 184.8 achieved)! If you know what you're doing, you can get very good predictions with just "numbers analysis"...

I predict 99mph in the 1/4 vs. 95mph for the current car just based on power/weight.

But yeah, take it with a grain

^ my guess is that they engineered it for some better acceleration numbers rather than take a purist approach. 99 in the quarter would be doable as well as mid 5 0-60. Not important in the big picture but good for the ego.

What would you consider a "purist" approach?
I don't see how adding >10% more power, 20% more torque throughout most of the rev range, keeping the same 7000rpm power peak, increasing revs slightly to 7500, while only adding about 30 lb. is less pure. They really could have screwed this up. I'm psyched we're getting pretty much the same car with somewhat improved acceleration performance

The only thing I take with a grain of salt is the final drive assumption.

Everything else look cool bananas.
