I think the BRZ and FR-S will win Car(s) of the Year awards...

... I am not sure which magazine will crown them, but it doesn't matter.

Automotive magazines are like cheap beer, consume enough of them, and it all starts tasting like water in the end.

I digress.

The magazines will use phrases such as:
  • Return to form
  • An old formula that still matters
  • Subaru/Toyota nails it!
  • Rennisance car!
  • Not your daddy's Subaru/Toyota!
  • Agile wins the day!
  • Low on power, big on fun!
  • Fat cars are like fat women... You don't want a fat car.
  • Don't be stupid. Buy this car.
  • Cheap Thrills!
  • Some clever reference regarding "Confidence in Motion"
  • Other cars spiral the toilet bowl of the mundane!
  • Other cars suck, but this car swallows... corners. ZING!
  • Come! Read about how much fun you aren't having in your car!
  • BRZ/FR-S to world: Do you want Karate?!
  • Something, something... Double Dragons... something something
  • Slideways!
  • Dynamite comes it small packages, unless it's dropped by a B-1B Lancer, then the chances are that it's going to be a fairly big package.
  • More fun than a room full of three year olds with Turrets!
  • Something snappy about boxer motors and punching out the competition.
  • The cuter the animal, the better it tastes! In a BRZ!
  • BRZ/FR-S: If they were more fun, you'd be having sex in them. But you can't, because the inside's so small. Unless you can do it in a BRZ, then you'd fit in the back seat....Exclamation Point!

Just watch.

Motortrend gives out the COTY award but I rarely ever see a sports coupe win that.

My first, stupid post aside, I actually think MT - or one the other rags - is going to give the win to the twins. Besides genuinely being good cars, they are going to want to make a point to the consumer and the manufacturer: Fun still matters.

I see the car as too much of a niche car to win CotY. It's (almost) everything I've ever wanted from a car, but I'm not everyone.

CoTY will probably go to the new 3 series.....if it is eligible....

Remember the BRZ/FRS is "limited production" , I dont think it qualifies

Not really, no. Huge plans to make tens of thousands if consumers jump on.

Yes I know that......I was trying to be sarcastic since many dealerships want to make it seems like this is a one time "touched by the hand of God" car that is "limited" and therefore add $5K to MSRP....

Look for Car and Driver to add the twins to the Top Ten Awards, and to the editors choice awards.

If it's not the new 3 series I can't think of another car besides BRZ/FRS that should get the COTY award this year.

The Audi A7 won Automobile's "Automobile of the Year" and Esquire's "Car of the Year" last year; you wanna talk about limited production?

Don't lose hope! I think we'll win it The new 3 series and the new 911 might be runners up, but they're just improvements on the old guard. Both very impressive compared to their outgoing models, but we've got the advantage of being a NEW car with a fresh design.

Can't wait for it to get CoTY! Then we can see $10K Markups..."limited , CoTY, touched by the hand of God"....lol... I'm glad there are dealers like Longo in Souther California that want to see this car do well..... I have to wait 3 years
