2022 seats in a first gen?

My first gen seats are still good, but the new seats sure look comfy. Can they swap into the older cars?

2022 seats in a first gen?

Apparently the bolted interfaces are the same, but they put the seats closer together. Might be tight around the 1st Gen center console.

New they probably cost too much. Not sure if number of 2022 cars in breakeryards is high enough to source them cheaper. But if paying new-oe prices, then i'd probably go for some reclining recaros or similar, for even better looks/side supporting.

Sort of off topic, but as I was rebuckling my seatbelt loop for the 100,000th time I had wondered if they improved them in the new model. Looking at the pictures above it appears they did not, still using a snap loop.

Is that accurate, and if so do they work any better than the ones in my '13?

Aren't the Side Impact Airbags in the seats? I'd be concerned about compatibility and if they would deploy when needed..

Gen 2 seats fit in gen 1, I swapped mine just to see. Subaru changed the seat buckle, so you will need to transfer over the gen 1 seat belt buckle to the gen 2 seat before installing.

Thank you for this! How do they feel, comparatively? Does it trigger the SRS light?

SRS plugs right in, and the gen 1 seats have better lumbar support, gen 2 seats have literally no lumbar support and less padding in the cushions, but are more bolstered in the thigh area. I still prefer the gen 2 seats for what it worth.

So gen 2 seats are plug and play on gen 1?(besides the seat belt buckle) and the occupancy sensor on passenger seat works fine or did you have to move that over from the gen 1 seats?

For what it’s worth, I find the Gen 1 (2017) seats better. More lumbar support as noted above and they sit quite a bit lower in the car.
