Tail of the dragon

The wife and I recently took a trip to Pigeon Forge, TN from Florida. It's amazing how much stuff you can fit in this little car. Two large suitcases, a few small bags, small cooler, wife, and a little weiner dog. On the way there came across a 2019 TRD edition. We had fun swapping leads. Stopped and talked. He said he has only had the car a few months. Told him IMHO OFT and E85 is a good, easy upgrade, if E85 is available where you live. We stayed in a beautiful cabin with a view of the mountains. Took a ride to the dragon on one of the days. It was a blast. The roads going there were fun. I envy the people that live in the mountainous regions like this or out west. Hope to move to one of these areas in the near future.

Did you go when they're out taking pics? I recently did an awesome road trip with my brother through there and just had to buy the pictures.

Same here. Here's the photos of mine from a couple of years ago, that coincided with peak leaf season....

We drove the Dragon a year or so ago....sigh.... in our Land Cruise because the FRS was hung up having its engine replaced after a botched valve spring recall job. Were planning on taking the FRS, of course, but we went anyway. You know the saying.... "Man plans, God laughs." Found the Cherahulo Highway (or something like that.,.always confuse it with the hot sauce, Cholula) by accident on the way over to it from Nashville...that's a gorgeous drive, too.

Looks good! I'm up there quite often, but haven't been in the 86 since it blew up a while back

Dadhawk, looked at your pics. Wow! Very nice, with the changing of the leaves.

Hard to believe you were able to fit a few mountains inside your cabin. But I guess we have lots of practice with the 86.

But really, I share the sentiment about wanting to live on the mountains. My dream is to move from fl to either of the mountainous regions here in the states. also wanna hike the AT and drive the Tail of the Dragon someday.

We have a few locations like that in eastern Canada but nothing quite like the Tail of the Dragon. Next road trip when this pandemic ends.

I'm up there several times a year. If I can't autocross, like say during a pandemic, I try to get up there and work on my hands every couple of weeks. I love visiting Fontana Dam, too.

Always a ton of FRS/BRZ people up there.

I've done it many times, mostly on motorcycles. I once did a Miata day there in my track-prepared N/A. Never got the turbo Miata there, though. Advise you not attempt it on weekends. It was kind of the same as the Skyline Drive route from Pacifica, CA to Alice's Restaurant for breakfast.

I lived in a big diesel motorhome with my car and bike in a trailer. I went to NC to do the Dragon, but stayed the whole summer when I realized how many great mountain roads are there.
