Southern California track lap times?
Hi everyone!
I'm looking to purchase a 2022 GR86 or BRZ. Curious if anyone has been able to participate in a track day in an open passing group & if you could pm or post your laptimes? Obviously track times isn't what it's all about but just curious how it compares to what I used to run. (Times are very driver dependent of course) I used to do a ton of track days in a 2005 M3 (E46). Coilovers & squared 265/18's. Looking to get back into the hobby & sold the M3 a few years ago. The GR86/BRZ is really looking like the best option so far as a street/track car. Auto Club roval, streets & big willow & button willow times? Thank you! |

FWIW: second hand / unreliable data...
I have seen several gen 2 cars at streets of willow. A good driver, with what he claimed was an "as delivered" car (casual glance - it was stock tires/wheels, and no obvious camber) was claiming 1:27. I don't think he was exaggerating. CSGmike on this forum has not posted numbers, but has posted videos that seem to support this level of performance. 1:28 with a passenger: There was another video on youtube claiming 1:23 but with tires/suspension mods

I'm an amateur:
ACS Roval 2:03.94 Chuckwalla 2:06.883 Buttonwillow 13CW 2:08.158 I think in general if you can be at 2:00 or faster at Buttonwillow, you can do plenty of good lap times in this car. Tons of info out there with videos. |

Reference 86Cup lap records. You can probably find the associated video with a quick youtube search.
Nonetheless, that should give you an idea of what the best possible times are based on a reference modding level. View accordingly, judge where you fall based on your own skill/mod level, and add/subtract time delta. https://www.86cup.us/records/ |

Consider Mike's times in the hands of a good driver. My modded gen 1 can only do 2:05 at BW. I am nowhere near as good of a driver as Mike
