F1: We want vehicles to be able to follow each other close for more overtakes.

Also F1: We are keeping Monaco in the Calendar.

I actually like Monaco It's the on track equivalent to the trench run.

Another issue besides the following is how large the cars have gotten. I know some of this is due to mandated crash structures and they can only get so small, but they have gotten huge over the years. LMP1 cars are actually much smaller.

I don't mind it either, is just that the vehicles are just way too long to navigate the circuit and overtake. The only way to overtake is by hoping your opponent either exceeds limits, crashes, or bad pit stop. It is still racing nonetheless because it is a heavy team strategy circuit. But if you manage fastest quali, that is pretty much your guaranteed place on the actual race. I think that as a driver, it must be extremely frustrating to see the same vehicle in front of you during the whole race, knowing that you are posting faster lap times, but there is very little room to overtake and at times is not worth it because of how narrow it is.

Here's a little food for thought. Although qualifying times have come down some,,, race fastest laps are still pretty close over last 20 years.

That just means the cars are too fast for Monaco.

As gimmicky as I find Formula E, the FE and F2 race at Monaco were excellent. Both cars obviously less power and physically smaller.

There's little revelation there at all. The regulations (for some time now) change to restrict vehicle speed and the teams manage to make the cars faster most times now by very smart solutions and/or very very expensive solutions. Add to the mix that all the FIA really seems to care about these days is reducing the amount of fuel consumed by race cars and what you end up with are incremental performance gains.

I could be mistaken, but I believe the rules allow the current 1.6 V6 engines to redline at 15,000 rpm. However nobody runs their engines that high because mandated fuel consumption gets exceeded by spinning the engines that high. Most shift at 11,500 - 12,000 rpm.

Did they run that on a different track. Even if the video showed every pass it still looked like a more interesting race than the ICE GP.

This year it was on the full Monaco track. Previous years it was on a shortened version.

Baku always delivers DNF(5) & turnarounds.

Well that was Demoralising outcome for the Ferrari/customer drivers once again.
Trying to think back when was the last time we saw a catastrophic engine failure with lots of smoke.

Glad for VET, after his failed attempt on OCO he managed to recover his race and take the position he was on his way to get before the incident.

Mclaren boy’s rivalry is showing..

Merc better get creative at controlling the harsh ride as both drivers have been very vocal about pain since the start of the season.
Ham must have found some good meds as he will have another go at suffering this week at another bumpy track.

Duck tape, proven again to be the only solution to a quick fix.

Im finally going to my F1 race again after 2 years. More on that later…

As I posted here I've been without TV for about 6-7 weeks. I got to see bits and pieces of Miami and then nothing since.
I'm missing the best part of this season leading up to Canada. Not to mention MotoGP, WBK, World Rally etc. etc.
I really hope I have TV by Canada GP weekend!

Is there a connection between the porpoising phenomenon we see this year and the Ugly hub caps they are using, its just too incidental...

Im finally going to a F1 event again after 2 years.

Short version of what follows : Is that Im getting very wet Friday and have an F1 fever.

Mini soap story (Rant?) starts at the beginning of 2020 and rumours of a possible pandemic happening in a far away place.

Saw a too good to pass up deal on F1 tickets for the local show and got me some of the lowest cost tickets since I first went in 1978 (Fridays GAdmin were free back then).
I like General admission Fridays or Saturdays as I like to change position and get different views. Had a nice Hairpin seat in 2019 and only used it quite late in the day, same with a Sena curve seat a few years ago(great view of the pit Exit and cars lining up), race day is a NoGo for me because of the crowds of mostly uneducated F1 fan wannabes and long line-ups for all the urgent necessities…

2020 feb 20th :Buy 2 general admission tickets for 22$ CAN.

2020 march 12th :
Received notification they are waiting/deciding what will be done with the tickets and will advise as the June date will not happen and is postponed.

2020 July Find out local F1 event cancelled due to local health restrictions and will not be rescheduled for the fall as rumoured.

2021 28 April: Mtl F1 cancelled for 2nd time.

30 april 2021
The long-time Montreal Promoter has been bought out by the last corp I worked for.
I missed that news for some reason possibly due to my indifference with anything my old employer does.

2021 passes: Still no update info received since on the ticket status.

Jan 29 2022 contacted ticket distributor for an update on use of tickets for 2022 edition
Reply back they will be contacting customers in the next few months with replacement tickets.

Last week my brother reminded me the race is next week, any news on the tickets?
Also advises that this year new restricted items to the site have alcoholic beverages on the list.
At this point im having a panic attack more on the no beer situation than the no ticket one. My worry about tickets was minor to me up to now.
Having to use crutches for most of April & May due to my arthritic knees flaring up my priorities were elsewhere(my plan :someone was getting a free ticket…).
Im wobbling around now and should be able to make it to the site.

10 june AM
Re sent my old email on ticket status , received a reply a few hours later which advised the new promoter will NOT honour 2020 tickets and that they will send me a refund for my order of 22$

10 June 2022, PM
Refund has been confirmed and a transfer back to my Visa account validated ok.

Meanwhile my brother tells me his buddy who regularly joins us had a mass layoff at his job and had his Friday off cancelled and has to work, so he has inherited that one .

Hunting down relatively CHEAP last minute tickets seemed hopeless, but came across a 65$ general admission and picked it up, next cheapest found were 100$.
Just for reference for Sundays race a seated ticket near the Senna corner is going for 1800$ or so.

11 June: received 1 Gen admin tck. It says June - 2022 good to go!

Next up on my schedule is the FREE F1 open house Thursday from 9am to 12 (originally was not happening this year as per last month due to the FIA Covid restriction) Slight chance to see a few drivers close up and then on to Crescent street later in the day to check out some sample tasting and other freebies & street festivities and a short walk away to Peel street to checkout the fancy restaurant terrace scene with some high end exotic cars on display there Lots of cars beginning with the letters B,P,F,L.
So much partying to be done this week in MTL … there is an international French Music fest ongoing as well this week and already took in a few free shows, lots of people already in town and mingling was good.

Some fun facts for this circuit,
The locals are a bunch of animals and don’t respect the F1 drivers right of way.(as for most drivers around here)
It’s a family thing, The 2022 batch is quite ready to cause some more chaos: (Taken June 6th 2022)

Some of the Drivers that met up with the locals are:
Ralf Shumacher in 2007
2008 & 2017 Lewis Hamilton
2015 Felipe Massa
2015 Anthony Davidson
2018 Romain Grosjean's
2019 Nicholas Latifi
2019 Kimi https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/v...939357001.html
