Yep, me and my two sons went turkey hunting over in the Busch Wildlife area in Saint Charles County of Missouri. We were armed with 3, 20 gauge shotguns. Ya, I know, a little light to take down a turkey - but, we had 3 of them. Out in this clearing up jumped a turkey, flying low and fast. All three of us shot it. Yep, after counting all the lead shots in the de-feathered turkey, I reckon all three of us hit it - Now, back at the ranch, we were fixing on dressing out that bird. After much searching I finally found a pot (actually a 5 gal can) big enough to get the turkey into. Filled it with water and heated to boiling over a propane stove. Meanwhile, I told the then mrs humfrz to plan on something else for supper because this was going to take a while. So, after scalding that bird we FINALLY got all the feathers pulled off (well, most of them). Then over an open flame we burnt off the pin feathers. As I headed for the kitchen to gut that bird, the then mrs humfrz said that I couldn't bring that ugly, lead studded, blood dripping, beast into her kitchen. So, me and my boys gutted it on the deck and plucked out several of the lead shots. The next day, I popped that bird in the oven and cooked it to 190 degrees F. Yes, 190 degrees, because it hadn't been vaxxed. That was the worst turkey I ever tried to eat. It had a small breast, it was overcooked and dried out and tough. The racoons that lived in our woods, feasted that night. HAPPY TURKEY DAY! |

We had a meeting at 11am to go over the on-call events from last week (I was on-call, so I technically run this one). Haru has been dealing with some stuff I took him to the vet for on Saturday and so this morning he was sleeping in really late, till around 10:30, then he finally woke up, I gave him one of the medicines he needs, and then he finally decided to start whining to go out around 10:55AM.
So I message my boss like I normally would and say "hey, can we reschedule the meeting for later this afternoon, Haru just woke up later than usual and really needs to go out, so I'll be gone for 20-30 minutes." His reply: "Sure, but can you please let us know a little earlier next time?" 1. This is an unusual schedule for Haru and I had no idea of knowing when he'd wake up for the day and be ready to go out. I even tried waking him up like an hour earlier and he was still too sleepy, which is fine. 2. My last day is Friday, so asking me to be different "next time" is a little.. lol. If I had a human baby that needed a diaper change and was screaming, would he expect me to just be like "sorry kid, but I have this non-critical meeting that's already scheduled in 5 mins and I can't miss it."? Anyway, last night/Saturday night was the first weekend in months I haven't felt depression thinking I have work this week so that tells me I've made the right decision.
