TRD Spring Question
About to throw some TRD lowering springs on the car this weekend. I saw in a few pictures online that looked like the springs come with new bump stops? Bought mine second-hand and did not receive new bump stops.
For those of you with these springs, are the stock bump stops fine, or would you recommend cutting them a little when doing the install? Also are there any special tools I'll need besides a spring compressor? Saw something about an open-end or spark plug type socket? I hate my stock nasty wheel gap more then anything so I'm excited even if it's only an inch drop! Oh and thank god for free alignments for life through Firestone. |

Hey previous Firestone employee here! Yeah I love the Lifetime Alignment! Just amke sure your shop is capable of doing lowered vehicles. Not all alignment racks and machines are made the same. I realize I didn't answer you question... Sorry.

I bought new TRD springs last march that I haven't installed yet. Waiting on doing my clutch and turbo before I lower it.
It does come with bump stocks, I'm not sure how much they differ from stock. For tools, I got the spring compressor ready. Though I heard you don't need them since the stock springs don't have enough force or you can undo the top hats or something while it's on the car? For special tools, I believe all you need is an open end wrench so you can put an allen/hex key through. Make sure to call the alignment place to see if they do lowered cars as mentioned. I'm calling around my local places to check as well.

You'll want spring compressors to get the stock springs off, they're under enough force that it won't be a fun time.
You'll also need either a strap wrench, or pass through socket, to loosen and tighten the top nut without spinning the shock shaft.

I've also seen some videos of people just removing the top hat/main strut bolt from the top and letting the spring basically decompress before removing the strut, we'll see if I end up grabbing a spring compress or not. Or maybe I'll just launch one across the garage |
