Think of it this way, in 20 years, you'll thank your lucky stars it was popular. My baby (88 celica) was trashed up, and we couldn't find parts for her ANYWHERE. And if there were parts, they were suppperrrr expensive because of the car not being too common.

If the popularity is what is concerning you, don't worry. Most people will jump ship when the next cheap sports car comes around.
I know how that is I've got a 77 celica trying to find parts for that is a nightmare

If parts from a 92 would fit, I know someone who has a 92 GTS they're trying to get rid of. It's in Sandy.

And to those of you who say "don't care what others say, do what you like", do you appreciate that your car's value is dwindling and your insurance is going up because people don't know how to drive these? When they first came out, the BRZ and FR-S were looked at as great looking, sweet cars by most people. They are still great to the people that appreciate what they do. It just sucks that the general public is starting to see these cars as loud, obnoxious, riced out cars.

The more I go through Facebook groups and see what people are doing to their cars, it just annoys the shit out of me. Sorry if you think I shouldn't get annoyed by it, but the more and more people do that shit, the more that these cars get lumped into the "rice" group.

I've said this multiple times.. but this platform is the Honda world from the late 90s/early 2000s. Same exact culture, opinions, builds, etc.

Which makes it really funny when I see Honda bashing on here.

Not so sure that it is "Honda" bashing so much as "what people did to some of the poor Hondas" bashing. There is no denying that the Civic was/is not the only car to get the treatment since Neons, Cavaliers, Sunfires, (shit just about any small sporty looking car you can name) have also been riced to death but the Civic became the poster child a long time ago.
Not hard to figure out why since used ones are cheap, reliable and easy to find so make the perfect platform for young, creative artists with a limited budget.
No doubt at all that the 86 will suffer the same fate as used ones get cheaper and cheaper. The only thing that may save it a bit is that there are way fewer of them so perhaps more will go to track instead of purely cosmetic "race car" mods. I don't hold out much hope though.

Expensive cars suffer the exact same fate, only their tasteless mods have a higher price tag.

Civics became the icon of rice when F&F came out. I knew a kid whose goal it was to get his Civic low enough to do the "drive under the 18 wheeler" stunt from the movie. He would never try it; he just wanted his car that low. It turns out that the 18 wheeler from the movie was lifted slightly, so he wasn't able to meet his goal.

Civics became the icon of rice when F&F came out. The ones from that early era are starting to fade away though as they get wrecked or just plain wear out.

Wait. You mean the movies aren't real?

I wasn't talking about this thread. Look in OT and other threads and you'll see thousands of Honda bashing comments throughout the past few years (general comments not pointed towards a pic that was posted, etc).

AHHHHH I misunderstood! Ya, also bashing for just about every car ever made though. Even the Miata and S2000 get their turn at being bashed here even if not quite as often as some.
And geez just try to show support for any FWD AT car and watch the fun roll out.

Since he said FWD AT (auto trans I assume) then they all suck. But all AT cars suck IMO regardless of driven wheels
