how is an FR-S a mid life crisis car? oh God, my hair, I can hear it falling out
33 is like the target market for this car. Seriously, if the marketing guys heard that a 33 year old insurance salesman was buying this car they'd pat themselves on the back for a job well done. salesman is a schmuck but they all are. at least you know he's not making much commission. Buy the car you love and forget about the haters. |

I'd really agree to take it to the GM and Owner of the dealership and express your anger. Doesnt matter if he thought he wasnt being monitored. Push it to your advantage. Might be some TRD items involved to keep your service...

He doesn't know you personally so why would you care what he thinks or what he has to say? I would probably make a snarky comment along the lines of "You should really watch what you say because you don't know who might be listening" and leave it at that. At the end of the day some people just human trash and aren't worth the effort to pay attention to.

Pretty sure you know how to handle this. For me, I finish the deal to get the car I want without any drama. When the Survey arrives, tell them how you feel. When the GM or Sales Manager calls about your poor Survey, play them the Voice Mail and put it all behind you.

I would definitely use the voicemail as leverage to get a better deal on your trade in. If the manager finds out, he's probably losing his job anyway so what difference does it make if he practically gives the car away?

Say straight-up to the general manager that you wanted to buy the car from this dealership [because of this and that...] and the voicemail is offensive to you and your family and you are now not sure if you want to do business. Then leave it up the the GM to give you an offer. Just be genuine about it. Be honest and sincere the whole way through it, but also express your feelings on how offended you and your family are.

Go buy the car somewhere else then schedule an appointment with the salesman that made you butthurt. Show up in your new FR-S, tell him fuck you, and drive off into the sunset.

Didn't read all the posts, but my take is this.
You buy whatever the hell you want, but don't give him the satisfaction of making a sale. Play the message for him and whoever the highest level manager is at the dealership then post your experience on any major review forum/website. Buy the car from somewhere else, but this is one case where pride should be taken into account. |

Great negotiating opportunity!!
You'll quickly forget how the salesman p'd you off, but you'll enjoy for a long time the great extras you'll be able to get with the additional discount you wring out of them, and those extras will keep reminding you that he who laughs last laughs best. Go for the jugular. It's rare that people "expose" themselves so badly, and it's an opportunity to be exploited.

I started with an email. I sent it directly to the salesman and did not CC anyone else. I want to see how he responds. I won't share the email until they reply. Stay tuned! :happy0180:
