I agree the Ridge is worth it as well. My appreciation for Pacific has improved since they redid the 5a/b, 6 curbing and the better FIA curbing in 3b. Really improved the experience and reduced some of the danger. Those previous curbs in 5ab/6 were 2 feet tall and I've seen them rip out undercarriages before.

The Ridge hadn't paved the chicane yet when I ran there earlier this month but the skybridge is done and it's very cool and it looks like they're setting up to add more pavement/paddock really soon as well.
I usually don’t do the lunchtime lapping, I stick to the full day and so I can take it slow and not feel like I’ve got to rush around.

That repaved backside is great. Super grippy, and it’s a few feet wider at the exit of 3b and entrance of 5a I think. I took the SCCA license course with proformance last march right before the track improvements were made. The difference between the old road and new is palpable.

I haven’t had a chance to get out there yet this year (nursing a torn ligament in my left ankle). I’ll work in some time at the ridge this year as well.

From the racing results - the new back section was worth 1.5 seconds overall in most classes and it’s not just grip - it’s that you now have 3 curbs you drive over entirely without much ado and that really opens up the radius - ball joints and bump stops be damned.

The Ridge has a sudden opening due to a motorcycle event cancelling this weekend. I am signed up for Saturday the 11th.

Let's see if I can blow up another engine

If it wasn't SCCA National Tour at Packwood this weekend I'd sign up.

I'm signed up for BMW club at PIR next Thursday and then the OnGrid event at ORP on Saturday the 18th. OnGrid is probably gonna be garbage, but it's $150 and on a Saturday so we'll see.

Am signed up for the BMW track day as well. Selected novice though it was the only one available besides the first time with the turbo car getting a shake down at the track.

Fingers crossed the turbo doesn’t overwhelm the Lani nova oil cooler and it can survive a 20 min session

By the way, is it possible to log at all with a laptop during the track sessions with the ecutek dongle?? If not what’s the best solution?

Am really surprised that these track days are only 4 x20 min sessions

Is this normal?! Motorcycle track days we get a minimum of 6 sessions!! Why is it that car track days only do 4!?!

Am definitely nervous getting back out on the track and still got to do a brake fluid change and pad change before Thursday morning

Hopefully the continental extreme contact sport will do the job. It’s got 10k street miles on them so far

I think I'm bailing on OnGrid -- maybe someone wants my spot?

Gonna go do the national pro in packwood instead.

I'm in intermediate for BMW club thursday because I'm bringing my miata.

Can confirm, 3rd is faster for me, but I am also on 4.3 rear end. 2nd I run out of gear partway through the corner.

I couldn't get my wing below 5 degree of AOA so it was a net gain of zero. Lost 8-10mph on the front straight. Everywhere else it was 2-5mph faster in corners until the tires got hot, then it was understeering mess till I could get them cooled down.

I look forward to the day you decide to sell off the non-essential parts and make that a race car. I recognize the passion (er, I mean addiction) when I see it - it's only a matter of time.

Start shopping for that truck and trailer now.

lame as fuck.. got an email last night saying they decided to not run any Novice class on thursday with the BMW club.

Am tempted to try the ridge or ORP but just not sure about driving out there and not having a way to haul the car back in case of any breakdown. ugh

U-haul tilt bed car trailer is only 55 bucks a day. As long as you have a truck, or a buddy has a truck that can pull a trailer you can get the car home without too much trouble. That is what I did last time I sent some engine parts into a low earth orbit.

I'm not sure if I'll get back out there this year. My wife and I just found out that we're expecting our first baby!

So naturally, I will become old and boring and sell my sports car..

..just kidding. I'll be back eventually. But until then, I'll continue sharpening my skills on the sim. I've been racing Formula Renault 2.0 lately and having a blast.
