65 is ~3100
70 is ~3300
75 is ~3500
80 is ~3800

I used to drive 80 all the time but it's a little ear bleeding now. I'll probably dial it back to 70 when I start to daily my brz again.

I think I lost more MPG from ditching the stock rear muffler. I haven't driven my car much since I've done the diff. It was a winter project and there have only been a few days clear enough to drive up here.

I don't think the muffler makes a huge difference like people think. I'm getting the same mileage on the N1 as I did the Q300. If anything, it would matter going 100+ I would think. I'd definitely have to test it on a few gas tanks with highway driving, keeping conditions as equal as possible.

So only about 300 rpms lower in 6th on the freeway (75ish)

the best way to make an 86 fast while staying na is undoubtedly the lsx swap . anything else is pissing in the wind. quick? maybe. fast? never.

The guy that ran a 13.9 in the quarter is pretty damn fast if you ask me. A lot of that can be the driver more than anything, so the car is capable of being quick. I think turbo is perfect for this car.

i guess 'fast' is relative... but 13.9 is not fast to most people. fwiw that's the same as the new infiniti hybrid sedan.

Depends on the shape of the new muffler (or lack of new muffler). Leaving that big empty void definitely increases drag. If you put on a proper diffuser you'll see the drag reduced again though.

Agreed. Assuming 'fast' = 'powerful' (as opposed to fast around a track) don't plan on winning many straight line races in these cars, even with all the NA bolt ons and E85 any of the garden variety stock BMW 335's would toast you with little problem on the highway. Our cars can match/outrun a stock S2000 with full bolt ons and E85, but an S2000 isn't a 'fast' car by any stretch.

These cars are all about driving enjoyment. They are fun to drive because they are so responsive - a good tune on E85 goes a long way to making car MUCH more fun to drive... it doesn't make the car *that* much faster but it makes the engine/throttle much more responsive. Other things like lightweight flywheels, lightweight driveshafts, final drive swaps will all make the car feel much more responsive, but not really make the car that much faster.

If you want a powerful 86, you gotta go FI.

With the right header and a tune I doubt the 86 would be slow anymore but still not fast.....

Fast is absolutely relative. 13-14s in the quartermile is still pretty respectable. S2k and older caymans/boxters run about those at the track. Just my opinion but this car isn't meant to be a hammer although it can make it into something resembling one. I'm all about making it a sharper box cutter.

30hp wouldn't exactly do much either. Ya it's a lot for THIS car, but it still isn't going to get it much further compared to the other typical cars.
