No I'm sure it's stupid. Just like a lot of things. There are plenty of guys willing to overpay for something just to say they have it.

Then you see the picture of it parked in their apartment complex, not outside the garage of their home.

I still have a turbo miata track rat drift car, so this gto will only see the track when my buddies rent it out for some laid back laps.

And a lot more room for the kids than the GR86.

And you managed to grab one of the MT ones. Those are almost at unicorn status.

Called just about every SoCal dealer in my area (since Longo stopped taking names for the list) - markups and forced add-ons ranged from $3k-8k, and that assumes they get an allocation. Most actually had one or two cars coming in, but all were AT not MT. There was one salesperson who said they thought the ADM was recently dropped a couple weeks ago but didn't really engage with me digging deeper because they don't have one on the way (so figured it would be a waste of their time). None wanted to take deposits.

I put an order in for a BRZ for March delivery since the first two Subaru dealers (Kearny Mesa and El Cajon) said they were MSRP. However, I am hoping I get a call from one of the Toyota dealers before then that they have an MT, but I won't pull the trigger with a markup. I guess we will see.

I've been on the waitlist at a Toyota dealer in Denver since November 21. They still don't really have any information for me so I caved and ordered a BRZ. I'll hear back from the salesman with a better time estimate but he seemed confident that I can have it by the end of May and they're only charging MSRP plus tax and $600.
If this happens I'll be looking to sell the set of aluminum steering knuckles I have in a box and buy GR86 suspension and front bumper.

Patience will pay off. I know out here in central Atlantic region a lot of dealers are cooling it on the ADM for GR86.

First post for me on this forum! Back in November I looked into getting a six speed Corolla from the Toyota dealer I work at. I was directed to the general manager who informed me there was no more left as they dropped the non GR six speed for 2023 (as of right now) and all 2022s had sold. He suggested I test drive a GR 86 as we had a couple coming in. Absolutely loved it. After some thought I went back to ask him about an allocation and he had mentioned he had just traded with another dealer in our region for a red base six speed. I put my name on it and it should be here any day now. I am getting a pretty sizable discount as I’m an employee, and from the looks of it I’m getting it pretty quickly too. We currently have three manuals and one automatic on our lot (not colors I preferred), so it’s surprising to me that some people are having allocation issues but this is my first new car buying experience and in quite an interesting time too.

Nice, congrats. Does your dealership sell at MSRP? What are the cars that are sitting?

I was told below MSRP, not sure if they’ll follow through but we shall see. Looks like a couple on the lot sold over the weekend. There is a black base six speed and a trueno premium automatic. They have them listed at MSRP

Called a dealership nearby (So. Cal) asking what they wanted for a track-bred GR86 premium MT and this was the response:
"The current market price for GR 86 Premium w/ MT is 40,467+ tax &fees"

*sigh guess I won't be getting one until the current market cools off its getting ridiculous!
