@Tcoat I was thinking of your search the other night, and what a spread it is between a big block Dart and a Corvair. I got to thinking about other cars that were cool, but a little "against the grain", and kept coming back to a '67-'69 Firebird with the OHC 6 and a stick. Maybe a Sprint pkg. Cool, unique, and underrated. Get a manifold, throw 3 deuces on it, add a header(s), re-curve the distributor, and go have fun.

Back in the day the hot setup was the 300 cu.in. Ford inline 6 cyl. Truck engine.

forged steel crank with 7 main bearings. A good deal of 289 Cobra parts were interchangeable. Rods, valves, springs, etc.

I've seen setups with 3 weber 2bbls and Mercedes Benz Bosch FI. The Bosch FI engine in a older mustang ran 148mph at Bonneville.

Those 300s are torquey. could be fun in an early 1st gen Mustang, falcon, or a Maverick.

That would be over $40K for me and then I would have to ship but not necessarily out of the ball park for the right car. Can you get some pics?

Looked them up and if he is only asking $30K he is way cheap! Anything at all half decent seems to start at about $40K and they pretty much only go up from there.

He probably hasn't done his homework yet. That's just what he said over a pint after work the other day. He is relocating and I think is tired of storing it. He said he has only put 5k miles on it in the last 8 years. Neat car.

Same colour as my 70 Coronet R/T was.
He needs to look at the prices. They have gone way up for some reason.

Wonky suspension poppy cosh that’s crazy talk 😂😂😂 the 64 had a transverse leaf spring in the rear. I have a 64 coupe and I’ve never had any jacking issues at all. I run a pretty aggressive rear camber but still zero issues!

I had a '61 Corvair and a '64 convertible back in the 70's. Always wanted a 2nd gen turbo, and have been looking at them lately but I just don't have anywhere to put another car, especially since I am considering getting a twin for tracking (and keeping the Supra and our other two vehicles). I still look though, so I will let you know if I see a 65-69 convertible in good condition. Good luck.

I don't have the slightest clue what this is supposed to mean.

Nah it is ok because the eel flys over the pudding while the cow pets the cricket.
