Automatic 2013 FRS won't start.

I have a stock FRS with 129,909 miles on it. My car decided to die on the highway today and now it won't start. I checked the battery and it's good. When I twist the key I can hear a click and something spinning, but the car won't start. I always run 91 gas when I got it and never had problems. Oil was changed almost 200 miles ago. My check engine light is on and the battery and oil. Do you guys think it could be the flexplate causing this? I have a video the noise it's making.

Welcome to the forum, there, Bad -

That sounds like a car with a almost dead battery trying to start.

I would suggest you try jumping it to see if it will start.

Also, clean the battery terminals, you may have a bad connection.

If it does, I would suggest you have the battery load tested and if it fails replace it.

Also, when you get it running check the voltage at the battery (with the engine running) and see if it reads around 13 volts. If not, maybe the alternator is bad.

I hope you get er goen -

Cleaned the battery terminals and reconnected the battery. In the video I was jump-starting the car at that moment. Will the alternator cause the car to stall while on the highway?

Have you tried charging the battery on a battery charger?

What does the voltage read at the battery?

The only way a bad alternator could stop a car on the highway is if it stopped charging the battery and the battery used up all its juice trying to keep the engine running.

When you jumped the car, did you connect the battery cables then let the other vehicle run for a few minutes?

I let the vehicle run for about 15min then tried to start the car. When the vehicle died on the highway, I pulled over to the side and tried restarting and everything turned on like the AC and lights but the engine won't start running. When the vehicle check engine, oil, and battery light went on while on the highway I tried pressing the gas when it was still on but nothing happened. I had more than enough gas so, I don't expect the gas to be the problem.

Question, was your 2013 under the valve spring recall? If so, did you have the work done? If so, how along ago?

Do you have a OBD II reader? If so, has the ECU stored any codes?

Well, so much for a simple solution, if you're sure the battery is good -

That would leave the starter or the engine itself.

If it had been starting OK and it just died on the highway and then the engine wouldn't turn over, it may have started to freeze up - like spun a rod bearing -

I'm afraid you're going to have to have the car towed to a shop/dealer to get a reading.

Come back.

I'll get a code reader asap when I have time to pick it up. I'll be back to this post when I have the codes.

As in the other similar thread if the battery is good that starter is struggling to turn over an engine with something broken and jammed up.
I would guess that once again it is toast due to spun bearing or thrown rod.

Have you tried to see if your crankshaft moves by manually pushing it with a wrench? If you try this make sure youre going in the right direction. I believe its clockwise if youre facing the car. If it doesnt move then you have engine problems
