3.6oz Carbon Fiber Battery Bracket for Shorai LFX21L6-BS12

I decided to make my own battery bracket out of carbon fiber. Some of you may remember my elaborate zip tie job. Classy as it was, the SCCA folks were never particularly enthused about it, so this is a bit of an upgrade. This is my first project with composites, so it's pretty crude and ugly (didn't even bother smoothing the edges) but it's strong and light.

The bracket itself weighs 2.6oz.

I tend to get excited about things. So once I was done, I quickly found some hardware lying around my house. I could go buy some nicer, and probably lighter, stuff at the hardware store, but... we'll deal with that later. Random hardware added ~38% weight - exactly an ounce.

The bracket consists of two separate pieces. The top piece bolts directly to the chassis in the existing battery bracket... bracket.

The bottom piece is adhered to the battery using two strips of 3M double sided tape. I considered filming it, but I was too lazy... after sticking the bottom piece to the battery, I held the carbon without touching the battery and swung it around like a viking on PCP. The tape held strong. I then bolted the bottom piece to the chassis using self-tapping screws.

If I make another one, I'll add a tab on the bottom piece for a third screw to go in opposite of the two screws on bottom. I expected it to flex, being only bolted down on one side, and it absolutely does. However, it's not going anywhere. I'm very confident that I could even wreck the car and the battery would stay in place.

the minimalistic approach and design is very nice.
I think you have put the finger onto something interesting there
can you remind us of your battery choice ?

Thanks! The battery is a Shorai LFX21L6-BS12. It only weighs 3 pounds. So between my battery and it's bracket, it's only 3lbs 3.62oz.
