4g63 Swap

Hello gents,

So I was set on K24 turbo swap with bmw f80 dct transmission. Now my shop called me and said they were having a talk and came up with the idea of putting evo 9 engine in.
They have freshly built stroked 4g63 engine that will probably run on motec ecu. They said they need to figure out a bunch of things along with the transmission but they are highly capable and i don't have any doubts about them building my car but I figured that I will do my part and check in the community for any thoughts, advice on transmission, etc..

Have a nice hollidays and stay safe 👍

Adapt it to work with Z or S2k transmission. Or full send it and put the motor in the back. Then you could AWD "easily"

Good luck. That engine really doesn't swap well, it's facing the wrong way. K24 is a far better choice from every angle possible. I love the 4g63 but please

It's only facing the wrong way until you turn it

You couldn't pay me to swap in a 4G63. One timing belt snapping on the interstate was enough for me to swear off Mitsubishi.

It wasn't the broken exhaust studs, stripped coolant necks, seized turbo studs, broken transfer cases, walking cranks, or yearly $5,000 transmissions?

Why are they suggesting such a downgrade? A K24 is a better engine in every way. There's also well known ways to have it be reliable in a RWD configuration even under heavy track use.

Why the BMW transmission?

This sounds like a hugely expensive idea.

If you're after big power and a gearbox to handle it, why not look at an LS swap with matching gearbox?

DCT swaps are the new thing right now. Though in the very VERY early stages. Still no real base maps available and little documentation, but they are extremely capable and offer just about the best experience. Manual when you want it, with fast shifts and no torque loss, while also being able to be put in to Auto mode and drive around. It's why I ditched my T56 magnum for one.

I was questioning why the specific BMW one, and not another option.
