Rocker Panel Damage Repaint Question

Hey guys, I damaged my rocker panel pretty badly. I curbed it as i pull out of my parking spot. I went to a body shop and they quoted me just under $1,000 (which i thought it was reasonable as it was a reputable shop) to get it fully repaired. They said they would weld a tab and pull the dent out then repaint the lower section of that panel.

My question is: do any of you have experience with repainting only a section of a panel? And is it noticible that its repainted? I'm really worried to see a line where the old paint and new paint meets. And also, I've read in some cases the clear coat might peel off.

If anyone understand this better than I do, your advice is greatly appreciated.

Tommy

If they do their work right it'll be practically invisible.

You may even only see it due to the reduction in orange peel. That's the only reason I can see the repair on my car.\

And paint sticks to paint just fine as long as they prep it properly.

Bummer ......

Can you take and post a picture...??

If the panel is not creased nor the paint scraped off, a PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) may be able to fix it.

Unfortunately, the panel is creased and the paint is also scraped off. I was thinking to do a PDR and just get rid of the dent, but I notice rust starting to build up at that location. So i thought its best to get it repaired properly.

Thank you!

Some colours are harder to match than others but all can be done and you will never know it. If white they may need a couple of cracks at it.

I also curbed my rocker panel a few weeks ago. The body shop I was recommended to by my PDR guy suggested letting them blend the paint on the lower half and re-clear coating the whole panel, ie the whole side of my car. I was worried about clearing the whole side but my PDR guy reassured me that it's the right route. So I trusted them and it turned out great. Can't tell the difference and the clear coat doesn't look any different. Plus lifetime warranty against any pealing that's not from neglected rock chips.

Just my experience but wanted to share incase it helps.
