Too much brake pad ?
Is something like the Project Mu 999 too much brake pad for a stock car running pilot sport 4 tires ?
For track usage only. Will be running OEM pads on the street. Not sure if it matters but the format of the track day is open pit lane so no run groups and I will have two drivers in the car.

As long as the brakes get up to their proper operating temp range and are balanced front/rear, then IMO you can never have 'too much pad' unless you have a hard time modulating the brakes.
Project Mu website says 200-800C rotor temperature range, so I'd expect you can get there and stay in it once the car is warmed up. I wouldn't use these in a low grip situation or rain because they'd be very aggressive and prone to lockup/ABS, as well as too low operating temp. There are pads out there which would be better suited to the situation, but these will work for you since that was the original question. |

Thanks for the info Matt. After a bit of back and forth on my end I have ended up going with the CL pads in the RC6 compound from a local race shop

The CL sintered compounds do have excellent control compared to the 999, however, you'll want to be mindful of keeping the brake temps in check. Both CL and 999 do run incredibly hot so monitor your caliper seals and such.
