That's crap. We seriously need a dealership blacklist sticky thread.

Richard Lucas Subaru in NJ wants 2500 over the sticker but at least they were straight-up about it. No hard feelings - I just said no thank you!

You hit the nail on the head. If you to mark the thing up, go for it, just don't assume your customer is an idiot and you can sneak a markup by them at the last minute.

My dealer said they would probably be selling them with a markup, but agreed if I came in with a deposit that he could sell it for sticker. When I brought my refundable deposit in, he had the sales manager sign it that the car would be sold for MSRP. They'll make a decent profit at full MSRP, though if supply is greatly surpassed by demard at first, a market adjustment would be reasonable. (I'm just not one to pay it - I'd rather wait.). I'm sure in 2 years the cars will be selling near invoice. Pretty much SOP for any hyped up brand new model.

Not that SoA has any real power here when it comes to pricing, but I would contact that and express your displeasure with this dealership. Enough complaints and they will do something about it.

I drove out there the next day and met him.. He said he found out shortly after how limited the supply would be and that they wouldn't take VIP and his boss was really really pissed at him for making that promise.. BUT.. they stood behind his promise and wrote the order for me at invoice.

Hiley Subaru could learn a thing or two.. going back on your word to add an upcharge to an MSRP is very bad form.
Please post that dealerships info to for those interested. We should create a thread for the dealers to go to as well. Mine has ended the pricing deal that Grinch, Will (local guy) and myself got but they never even tried to change our existing deal either. I should have gone for invoice!! lol

Nice to hear that he kept his word. Let's not forget, at invoice these guys are still making a profit.

Yep, we should have one list for enthusiast-friendly good dealerships (Built by Passion) and sketchy nefarious sleezeballs (Built by Committee). Everybody knows Passion is the better motivator.

Longhorn, really hope things work out for you; that is some real bad dealer douchebaggery.

I posted this info in the Mid A forum but just in case anyone from the DMV area missed it:

Fitzgerald Auto Mall in Gaithersburg MD just slapped on $2000 mark up fee.
Originally, they pulled me in by telling me it would be MSRP pricing or below. On top of that the sales manager told me he would take my order first thing this morning... Then failed to mention today was his day off. A number of other posters around here have had really bad experiences with Fitzgerald as well. I highly recommend avoiding them if you are in the DMV area. Annapolis, Herb Gordon, and Beyer Subaru in Alexandria, are far better options with FAR better reputations.

Seconded. Have yet to have a "good" experience at Fitzgerald, sales or services or parts.

That's probably where I'll be going as soon as the fire clears. There's only two in my city range and the other is Sewell Subaru of Dallas.
