Few chuckles here and there, and some interesting commentary from posts by myself and my buddy Laz. Also makes me wonder if some of the people who used to be regular posters here still have their cars or what they moved on to.

You have to know where you've been, in order to see where you're going.

Next up, I will re-read the entire DRIVE thread.

I haven’t been here for years, just checking in to see what’s new. Covid, buying a house, now have a 1.5 year old girl… FR-S has been sitting in the garage collecting diaper boxes on the trunk, and misc other stuff on the hood.

It made me think think of what I should do. We’ll need 2 cars in the future, 1 has been for for now. I have a tune but now need to smog every few year. I don’t want to deal with that. The simplest supercharger would be nice for a small boost and get rid of the torque dip. I won’t be redlining any time soon, I just want some lower end umph. I could look at other small, sporty cars, which all see to provide a performance option compared to the 86. But that’s a larger investment.

Anyway, nice to see the familiars here.

Nice to see you stopping by! Congratulations to you and your family, I'm sure your daughter is beautiful.

You should keep the car, if you think you'll have enough time to drive it occasionally! Flashing back to stock tune isn't so bad with OFT, assuming that's what you have.

When's the last time you got to take it out for some canyon carving?

I do think I’ll have some time now that she’s getting older, but I haven’t driven it for at least a year. Oh yeah, I need to fix the big crunch in my door also from an accident. I have a door replacement, but need to have it installed and painted. It’s these things that add up that make it hard to get started. All tires are flat and battery is dead, too.

On the flip side, parenting is fun. It’s a tiny human! Shaping what she does and learns, going down the slide for the first time, saying her first words. It’s magical.

For the door repair, that's easy, just pay a body shop to do everything. For the tires, that's kinda easy too if you have a pump that plugs into the 12v outlet. Depending on how old the tires are though it might be time to replace them. Especially if they've been sitting flat for a long time, carcass/sidewalls probably compromised.

For the battery, that's a little more annoying since it likely needs to be replaced if it's been discharged for a year+ (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

All in all, not showstoppers, but yeah I can see how motivation would come into play. I probably wouldn't be putting an ounce of effort toward addressing those things either if I had a baby daughter! Congrats again.

Sickspeed. They are selling B stock so I gambled on it.

I also had a run in with a Chip today... Got the 20 over w/ expired registration (what the fuck was I thinking?) equivalent of a warning: a ticket for 10 over.

I am pretty sure white girl privilege came in clutch here and I'll freely admit that. And shape up a bit too...

Cool, post up some pics when it arrives.

Sorry to hear about your speeding ticket, but it's kindof expected with these cars, to be honest. They just beg you to open them up and go through the gears.

Regarding the registration... that ones on you.. lol

She's a little red devil that makes me do bad things sometimes

The registration is actually because I moved interstate and have the same work hours as the DMV because of-fucking-course I do. Plus until Monday my windshield had a 4 foot crack in it I had to get done before I can get it inspected. I finally have time off accruing so I can get some stuff done.

Won big time on the B stock louvers. Will post pics somewhere when I get it installed. Think I need a second pair of hands to hold the trunk while I have it half unbolted. I could see things going tits up and I bet the back glass is even more expensive.

Red! The color of my first car 23 years ago, when I first turned 16 and started driving. I always heard back then that it added 5mph to your perceived speed, as well as attracting the attention of police a lot more easily. Sounds like that still holds true today!

I hear you on the DMV frustration, they also seem to take forever to do basic things.

Regarding the installation, yeah I can't imagine. Definitely get a helper and take it slow and easy so you can make sure everything goes smoothly on the first try.

On my last FR-S I had this, I've been considering ordering another one for my current one: https://www.ftspeed.com/part/ms346-1...over-2013-ft86

Even this was a little nerve wracking to install, since the instructions were all in Japanese. There's a few posts on the forum with instructions that really helped though.
