Anthony's Fiona FRS build

I've had my car for over a year now and have kept it stock because of my Miata build. I feel like the Miata is finally complete so I have started my FRS build. Before I get any further, let me start by saying I don't track my car. If you don't like air ride suspension, low cars, blah blah blah... this build is not for you.
So now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me start with a little background on the car. I purchased my car from socal in July 2012 after I got tired of driving the Miata daily. Initially I picked up a 2009 VW GTI but after a 3 days of owning it the AC compressor shelled out and I had complications with the headlight mount breaking so I brought the car back to the dealership. They took it back and offered me a whiteout FRS. It was almost like fate had brought me to this car.

15k miles later and still stock. October 2013

I picked up a full used Airlift kit from a friend of a friend and had it installed by a good friend James from riseabovesuspension in Las Vegas. Awesome customer service and quick turnaround time. Thank you James!

Shortly after the air install. The ride is surprisingly pretty good. A tad bouncier than stock but comfortable for daily driving.

Had the stock headlights blacked out by Thomas from Illuminatinglightworx. Awesome work by Thomas. He's also the President of the Vegas86 club so it was very nice to meet him.

I had tossed around a couple of idea for wheels and had my heart set on some cast rotiforms but I found these Leon Hardiritt Klosters for a good price on vwvortex. I could say no. They're 19x9 +30 square. They needed some TLC and I was okay with it.

As soon as I got them, I tested fitted them to see the clearance between wheel and front bags as well as rear clearance

I had them refinished by my friends at WCMotoring in Las Vegas. Faces were dipped in chrome, lips repaired and polished and barrel crack was repaired on one wheel. They're wrapped in 215/35 nankang tires. Pic after mounting/balancing and installation.

First daytime pictures. Sucked because it rained the day I put them on and a couple of days after but oh well...

Buddy Club tails were also purchased from ViciousLED and installed.

So this is how she sits as of now. I'm working with 86worx.com on some interior modifications and I have a few other exterior items I'd like to add (stivo lip not installed, LED reflectors and turn signal housings not installed). There should be a lot more to come from this build. Hope you guys enjoy it so far!

I thought about throwing a 5mm on the back to flush it out a tad more. It'll probably happen sooner or later but I've been in contact with a few wheel rebuilding companies that make lips for these wheels so in the future I will get them widened an extra inch. I think I'm a euro guy at heart. I like simple and clean look that a lot of vw builds have.

Same here.

OEM+ Tasteful modding.

Granted, I'm less of a stance guy and more of a drive the piss out of my car guy, but the above remains true.

I'm running 18x9.5 wheels with 265/35 tires but I still respect those who build their cars in other ways.

Speaking of vwvortex, my build thread is actually one of the, if not the most viewed and replied to build threads in the mkv r32 forum there. Lot of great people in the r32 community.

This is the second set of wheels I've purchased through vortex. The first transaction didn't go so smoothly and I thought I wasn't going to get the wheels but I did. The guy who I got these wheels from had great communication and was fast with the shipping. Guess it's a 50/50 when getting used wheels there. I'll have to check out your build thread some time. Sounds interesting!

I was invited to AM2motorsports in Las Vegas over the weekend for a small gathering. Here's some pics:

Parts are starting to pile up on the garage. I really need to stop being lazy and get them installed. Last week I picked up a set of OEM fogs from a local dealership, ordered a beatsonic shark fin and put my deposit in for the winjet headlights through @fteightysix . A good friend of mine was selling his Takeda intake that had low miles on it so I picked that up as well. Still debating on the exhaust I want to go with as I'd like to keep the price around 1k or lower.

Anthony's Fiona FRS build

@fteightysix gave me the opportunity to test out the new winjet headlights (I was on the group buy as well). Removed the stock headlights.

Installed new headlights.

Stock housings with hid cutoff

Winjet housings with halogen bulb cutoff

The DRL function just like stock. Disengage the handbrake and they turn on. Turn the low beams on and they turn off. Turn the high beams on and the turn on. So far I really like them but I will probably upgrade to an hid setup in the near future. Thanks to Malen and fteightysix for the opportunity and help with the install!

So tonight I got around to installing the lighting kit I purchased through @Diode Dynamics . Very impressed with how easy the install was and how nice their led's are.

Finally installed the oem fog kit today. Took a few hours but I'm happy with the results.

Stivo front lip installed. Thinking maybe color matched will look better but I'll run it black for the time being.
